Hi All,
Just got back safely, after a 6 day trip to Savannah & Atlanta, GA.
One thing I noticed was the high number of speed-traps, in the “Peach State.” One consisted of a bunch of Motorbike Cops on both sides of I-20, just east of Atlanta, and the following day I observed 3 seperate traps on I-75 between Atlanta, and Chattanooga, TN.
Watch your Ps & Qs if you’re coming down here, for the next few weeks at least.
Jim.
I know the feeling, had the same constant presence from the Mott PD while harvesting there. Wherever we went there was always a cop car just waiting for us to make an infringement. No-one got hit while I was there tho, so we may have got away with it.
Once they find something, they keep on at you.
A couple of weeks back I was stopped at Clifton Park NY and the trailer was put out of service. Friday morning at 8.00am I was driving north in the same area and noticed the first set of inspection lights were off, so foot down and up to 70 mph, as I neared the damm lights came on I slowed and pulled in, the same cop who put me out of service before was grinning at me and pointed to a bay. I pulled in and stopped, the cop beamed “Hi Pat, remember me ?”
“Yeah, I remember you”
In fact he was quite friendly and just wandered around, all he found was that accoring to my log I had just driven for 6 hours which is not ilegal but wondered why it took that long to travel from South Plainfield NJ to there, I told him I had neglected to enter the 2 hours sleep I had at a rest area and he just told me to bring the log up to date and sent me on my way.
It’s a good idea to go online and look up the hot spots as in speed trap .com
there’s a few others that can give you an insight as to where to cops hang out…
They must have a crush on you Pat

So you were down my neck of the woods eh?, I suppose If I had been on here on a more regular basis at the time I would have known, right?, anyway next time you’re down this way contact me, I’ll be more than happy to show you the ‘alternate’ routes around such unpleasant little distractions like Georgias Finest out to spoil everyones day, I’ll show you around the backroutes that bypass the weigh stations too.
I don’t want to tempt fate, but in close to 14 years of driving here (including a two year stint on 17 toners) I have yet to get a fast driving award, I’ve come real close on several occaisions, even had a couple of warnings from Plod over the CB, but thats as close as it has come, (Now you watch, sods law will kick in and I’ll get a tug tonight, or later in the week )
The last speeding ticket I got was for doing 72 in an F16 Gobstopper on the old A604 back in 1989, fifteen years since the last one ain’t too shabby for a leadfoot like me:lol:
Not that I condone speeding of course, as I fully realise that to some members on here it is the greatest threat to civilisation as we know it

Hi All,
So you were down my neck of the woods eh?,
Hi Cliff,
Yes, but that was quite some time ago…I even took a rest-break at that hopeless McDonalds, in Dallas! What a joke they are.
If I know in advance that I’m coing down your way…I’ll raise the flag well before-hand.
Jim.
Alright mate, will be looking for yer!
Do you mean my ‘Dallas’?, if you did then you were about 3 miles from the house!, mind you I probably would’nt have been there anyway, most likely sleeping in the Kroger parking lot another 3 miles further on!
Yeah thats right, sleeping in my truck that close to the house? I don’t like coming in to our strreet after about 2.00am, wakes the neighbours up, then 'er indoors has a wobbly if I wake her up, besides my Volvo bed is much more comfortable than the four poster 'er indoors just had to have! I paid $5,000 for a bed I only sleep in on about 20 nights a year!
