George Webb

Does anyone have any recollections of George Webb who ran a large fleet of tippers in Cambridge during the 50’s and 60’s?

I remember G Webb’s tippers when I was in RAF and had a flat in Cambridge,1963. I was stationed at RAF Feltwell near Brandon and thumbed it nearly every day. Webbs were doing a job near Barton Mills and stopped for me on Newmarket Road and used to drop me there about 0630,I think they had LAD Dodges then. I believe they are still operating.

Still going strong today.

Hi Dean. The Deutz dealer Rhymney Valley Motors was run by the White Brothers. Tommy also ran a few tippers as shown in the advert. They had a fitter Johnny Button who really new those Deutz’s and how to make them go.
Johnny’s family owned the property before Tommy White and ran a Roots/Dodge dealership there.
Back then there was always talk of the best fitters around and when it came to Dodge and Deutz tippers the top two around Bargoed would of been Johnny Button and Raymond Price, Alan’s son.
Both were characters as well!

Great stuff, thanks.
