Dear members, does anyone have a download for bridge heights /road weights for a Garmin sat nav. I am not having a good time with sat navs, my first Tom Tom was stolen the second stopped working after only a couple of months so I am giving Garmin a go. Thank you for any posts.

Hmm - I wonder if there was any connection between your TomTom having “stopped working” and your post just a matter of days ago about putting low bridge POIs on it…?
No Raymondo, the sat nav was working, it was the connection on the Tom Tom that broke causing me not to connect it by cable. So I thought it was an omen hence buying a Garmin.
Good luck then
owning both tom-tom and Garmin, I`ve never found a usable bridge height POI for the Garmin.
I am however still using an old one for the tom-tom that I can set in 1" increments the file is HERE on Drop box.
However as there are 12 inches to a foot, and therefore 12 separate POIs (1 each OV2 data file, and bitmap image file for each inch POI) in each separate file for 10ft downwards, 11ft downwards, 12ft downwards etc, choose carefully which (ft) sets you load onto your tom-tom as each POI has to have the proximity warning setup manually 1 at a time (distance from, tone/type to speech, & enable, uncheck warn of POI on route), I usually set them at 1000m away and loading the POI
s from 13ft to 16ft 6" will take several hours to do the proximity warnings & enable them.
But on the plus side you only have to do it once, then to set the height warning you want, preferences > warn when near POI > and select the relevant height you need (ensuring the others you dont need are unchecked, to avoid un-necessary warnings). I found I couldn
t get all the files onto my tom-tom, but could get 13ft up to 16ft 6"
Note: there may be a couple of odd 1" POIs missing, (ie: 10ft 4") if you can
t see the exact height you want just use the next one up.
Oh and before someone blames me for them hitting a bridge, I accept no responsibility for you using them, they`ll warn you of a nearby bridge but not route you around them & avoid them, as TT truck does
Day one with the Garmin, not impressed must admit I miss my Tom Tom. Looks like saving the pennies and getting a proper Sat Nav but thanks to all who contributed. This site is great.

My tom tom went up in smoke today so am back to ye olde sat nav till me new one comes
I’ve got a couple of old ones that I keep as back-up “just in case”. But they are not needed - I have a modern smartphone, so if my TomTom breaks/gets stolen I’ll just use Google Maps until a repair or replacement is forthcoming.

I find Google maps and Here Drive better than most sat navs, granted there’s no bridge heights but the general routing is better.
