Hello all,
I currently hold full category D license, plus CPC and the rest of it. I’m looking to get my category C, then C+E. I’m looking to do this over a long period of time, perhaps one step per weekend.
I applied for my provisional C, whilst applying for D. This was less than 2 years ago.
I completed medical for D/theory close to June 2018. I passed driving exams for D in October 2018
I’ve established that I will have to take the two theory exams again (yay…), but…
- Is there any requirement to complete a new/fetch my old D4 medical form?
- Since I’m fully CPC’d for category D, will I also have to sit any extra CPC classes for category C at the end?
- I understand there’s some 2 year expiry date to do with provisionals. Must I have completed all 4 modules within this time, in order to avoid having to pay for another D4? And from which date?
Thanks for any input.
Regards,
Jamie.

Hi Jamie, and welcome to the forum.
Yes, you need to take the 2 theory tests
You will not need a medical until such time as your CAT D expires (see the back of your licence)
You will need cpc UNLESS your current DQC shows CE on the face of it
There is no 2 year expiry for provisional licence - just for the theory tests.
Note that, if you need cpc, you will need to take the 3rd theory test (Mod 2, case studies) first.
Hope this helps.

That’s great, thanks! I remember doing my bus license and information was just thrown about, in passing. Rather than it being taught in a meaningful way.
Consequently, I will get studying!
