G999 WMG - Volvo F16 Globetrotter

we owned this F16 a year ago i got some pics of it.it is now marron colour not the blue and white although i did see it about 12 years ago at a vintage rally when we had a F10 and i was very jelious it was blue and white then.we sold it to a private collector. it was ran by vincents of cornwall for many years who painted it to match the steam engine colours what they use to pull. They replaced it with a EC ERF and kept the twin stacks of it.
it looked very smart when new in the black.
what do the ambassador bit mean?

Stevcowie, you might just open up a ‘jar of worms’ with that question!! My understanding is that no ‘Ambasadors’ were produced before 1992 when the flat (perspex covered) dashboard ‘facelift’ model was introduced, it was basically a lightly up-specced ‘Business Class’ specification with slightly different instrumentation. ie, the six round instruments in the centre part of the dash were replaced with a selectable LCD instrument pannel & retaining the part leather seating of the business class trim.

Can I Smell the fabric of anorak? Yours must be the F16 Ghia Ross! SteviO,

Hello.
I am happy to report that this truck is in safe hands over in Ireland. My friend and I purchased this truck from Rodney Cowle of Devon in 2009. We were delighted to find this thread and to see the truck in her former glory. If anbody has any other information or pictures we would love to see them.
Thanks,
Paul.

And after a few changes. Spots and beacons removed. The wheels were painted black so new rims were fitted.

very nice 16

I took this at truckfest

Think this was the 16 that went to Maguires, Ambassador special edition. Sounded lovely.

thanks for that thought it was the same one but was not sure . it did sound great like you say

We had the above truck at Ashfield Trailers in 1995/96, and i wondered if anyone knew of its whereabouts know…

Basically White with a Light Blue stripe round it(normal Ashfield Colours), Light Blue chassis, all the usual F16 ■■■■■■■■, twin stacks, chrome bumper, ally wheels, and it did have red sunvsior on it when i last saw it, but believe its now been changed to a Blue one. Had the usual one diesel tank, and a side locker the other side. Its quite memorable due to its registration number if nothing else.

The last i saw of it, it was pulling tippers out of Indian Queens(2001/02), still in the same Blue and White colour scheme.
It was featured in Commercial Motor with one of Peter Roff’s F16’s back in late 1994/early 1995.

If anyone has any pictures of it, or info of it whereabout, or a copy of the CM Article, it would be great.

The vehicle is still registered with DVLA but is listed as “unlicensed”.

It is almost certainly in Africa at the moment- old trucks don’t go to breakers’ yards in the way that cars do, they are exported to countries where expectations are lower.

How funny is this, i was just looking through this thread, and blow me down if i dont spot a picture of the very truck in question!!!

I didnt know it used to belong to Unitruc!
