Freddie Baker,first trip to Austria
There wasn’t anyone called Baker in the GL Baker company [emoji4]
The company was formed by George Littmoden. The G L in the company name. It was sold to Bain & Hodge of Luton in 1964
It became BOC. Gist and Linde but never Baker

Freddie Baker was one of the first drivers to do European work with Bakers…
I believe the Baker name was used to make the company more British sounding. It was widely thought the company’s long standing association with Marks and Spencer of Baker Street was its source.
Yes, that’s whatI recall from Roy Littmoden telling me in about 1970, or was it Ronnie Muggleton the transport manger ? I dealt with them both round that time.
back in the 60s when I was a butcher I worked in smithfield market and there was a carrier called g.l. baker not sure if it was the same company

Welcome to the forum Howard.
I dont know how long you drove for Baker’s, but do you remember this ERF ? It was a LHD motor. If you do and have any photos
of it can you please post them. Also can you remember the name of the driver. I was told that 2 brothers mainly drove it ?

Thanks for your reply Howard, that ERF was after you finished working there then if you started 1965 and finished 1970.
