If you think the unions are on your side, think again. They want exactly the same thing as your employer, money and power. The difference is, your employer is honest about it from the start.
So what you’re saying is that it all went downhill for British workers between the 1920’s to the 1970’s because they would have got a much better deal by relying on the government, bankers, and their employers instead as was proved after the 1970’s when Thatcher removed most,if not all,of the unions’ power to bargain effectively and left them with the much better situation of having to take what the guvnors and the bankers were willing to pay.
Are you sure you’re replying to the correct quote?
Yes.Logically if the unions aren’t on the side of the members then Union members throughout history would have been better off by just relying on the goodwill of their employers to raise living standards above those which existed during the 1920’s and before instead.

Okay, your words and opinions.
Note, yours. Your “logic” and your take on history, not mine.
IMHO,I don’t believe this strike will happen !! All Comrade McCluskey has done is “called a strike ballot” and probably has no intention of carrying out his threat Why ? Because look at the havoc he has caused just by “threating” a strike,he’s caused the Coalition tossers to run round like headless chickens and spout a load of “bollox” about filling jerry cans, which has caused a massive ■■■■ up at the pumps over the past day or two !! What a bunch of ■■■■■■■ these Politicians are,McCluskey,Bob Crow and their likes will be rolling around ■■■■■■■ theirselves at the mayhem that is being caused by just “threatening” strike action!!! No,I don’t believe there will be strike,he’s shouted “■■■■” and all the country has “jumped on the shovels”,bloody hilarious !! Bewick.
jammymutt:
I havent posted on here for a whileive been reading a lot though but I cant see anything anywhere that justifies going on strike,
They say they want safety rights whats changed since they were trained?
They say they want 5 days out of 7 does anyone still do that?
They say they want better conditions? home every night,
Whatever happened between Margaret Thatcher and the miners is [zb] all to do with this really is it??
I dont believe in unions i think they cause more trouble than they are worth .
So exactly what H&S conditions or working copnditions do they want that they dont have already?.
Whats the truth about the wages? do they earn £45k what do they get an hour etc? and is it their want of overtime that has caused them to work too many hours? should they be salaried like most drivers are nowadays?
So back to my question anyway anyone got any anwers? carryfast each to their own im 47 not been out of work since i was 21 owned 3 houses happily married had quiter a few jobs financially im doing ok and all without any unions just me and a few bosses and some hard work.
Still cant see why these guys are threatening to go on strike though when i was 24 Iwas chucked some keys and told to get on with it ok it was a fridge trailer but I didnt know how to switch it on until another driver showed me i didnt know how to pick up a trailer until another driver showed me but i didnt go on strike and slow down an already slow economy…OH wait you just sped it up by makoing billions for the government and the oil companies you just put money in ther pockets of the people you hate so much .
~So anyway what do they ACTUALLY WANT??
Better conditions of what better training on what better h&s on what gimme a clue will ya?
Still got no replies on this and there are definately some tanker drivers on here
Well said alecsaville, how all the{ drivers} on this site go on about how we could do this do that to this country if we all stood together, well is this what the tanker drivers are doing, STICKING TOGETHER, to achieve a better , safer work place for all ? all be it to get some more money into the bargain, but the most important point of the {threatened strike} is , the lack of on going training , which in this industry (adr) is now - read that ,sign it -you have understood it - training done.! How they can all condem drivers for sticking together is pure crap. Just because it causes some hardship to you’s, i’snt that what any proposed strike is all about ? Get in the real world and STICK TOGETHER
Yes gasman just like they supported the truckers whose livelyhoods that were on the line in 2000 when they carried on delivering fuel yes the very same comradery maybe?.

Of course Jammymutt, so you want to continue on from what they done in 2000, because we will get even , for not supporting us , get real man , that is why any goverment know there will NEVER be all out strike in this country , BECAUSE we are all so jealous of the conditions other drivers have which, are sometimes better than what others have, BECAUSE - each and every one will NOT stand together
Heathyboy, best of luck mate , I know the way conditions have went by the wayside , delivery times ,etc, I was lucky to get out 5 yrs ago after 20 yrs , no way would I be tempted back , still keep in touch with guys who say things gettin worse so glad i’m not in it any more

There would be more support if it was for a real reason and not for pure greed

See that, strike supporters? That’s capitalism, the reason you don’t have Ricketts, have hot and cold running water, and the reason you can choose to go on strike.

Dam with that attitude i feel compelled to support you!
So there you go browncow2, its not all about money, its about defeating the working man and his conditions, and , what the next scavenger can make out of it

Good on ya mate.
i stood outside stanlow when the last fuel protest was on. these vermin, arsoles, scum, shaits, drove out of the refinories when wee stood there to try and help our industrie. all they did was drive out and deliver fuel. they say this strike is about health and safty. if these {ZB} go on strike, god help them when they try to deliver fuel. as far im concerned you are the worst form of human extrement.
