I have a copy of ‘The Atkinson’ (Atkinson’s house magazine) with an article about Everard, and photos of one of their new Atkis. Apparently they were shipbuilders too

Not the best view, but it’s a start!

Many thanks “gardner” this is hopefully the start of the photographs to come rolling in.
Sorry for the delay in replying.
Everards were also shipowners, and at one time they had the largest fleet Coastal vessels in the UK.
I SAILED in about three of them as A/B

A couple of Everard vessels the first one is the Chemical Tanker m/v Alacrity

the second is the short sea tramp m/v Stability…cocked that up…the Stability should have been at the bottom…
amazing of how many men at sea that I met were , at various times , lorry drivers also

Did they end up with an Orange colour scheme ?

Not orange but yellow, nicknamed the ‘yellow perils’,ie. like the Gillian but mostly all their ships were painted black.
Hard to believe now but ships of that size and class like the first picture posted by Sidelight used to go up to Norwich with coal for the power station.

The black hulled vessels were known as Black Bobs, of course they had the Yellow perils and the tankers were mostly painted with a grey hull as in the pic (known as the smokey greys ( you could earn some good money on these tankers!!
