If you have a look through the net there are a lot of pictures of 88’s with bottom mounted wipers - ages vary , there wil no doubt be a debate about when they were all bottom mounted but i dont know i will leave that to the rivet counters.ANG and YAH both had top mounted ones but the one in the middle which is VPW had bottom mounted ones which is explained by the last post from Gilbert

I am of the opinion though that they were more common place on the Continent than in the UK. (bottom mounted that is )

Hello Bill,Some great pics you’ve put on here mate,I was digging through the cuttings box and found this clipping,it was from an advert for tyres…its a pity the chap didnt stand to the side and we could see a bit more Mandator

Cheers Bubbs,

Albert Moore was just before my time Bubbs , I started with Wyatt’s in 1970, he was fondly remembered though even after he left to start M.R.C.T.

did u prefer the LB76s or the 110s?

Difficult question to answer that one,the 110’s were better for the driving position and they had more modern stuff like electric wipers and you didnt suffer from a burnt left leg in the summer, but the 76’s had the character

For looks alone the AEC mkv`s win hands down imho against both swedes probably not to drive though

If it’s not a silly question, how did the drivers get in and out?

If you look carefully at the one on the left, you can see a ladder fitted to the front of the trailer beneath the sleeper pod.

What a great photo, one of the best of FF I’ve seen. The AEC MK5s always looked the part, nice to drive in those days. :sunglasses:

When FF were featured in Truck and Driver recently,i think i read that when double manned, one driver would sleep in the trailer mounted pod whilst the the other cotinued with the journey.
Would this be right?
