Friday nights,yawn

I do a regular trunk run to Cowdenbeath every Friday night.Saturday morning.
Leaving Stoke at 02.00 getting north of Greta, come across the occasional guy who’s obviously had a long week.
Having quite a fast motor,(But not as fast as Stuart Nicol’s), am able to pass most others.
Just north of Gretna last Saturday, came up behind two trucks, the first one wandering across lane one and the had shoulder and dropping behind the truck in front.
Pass him and give him a toot, then just as I’m getting close enough to pass the next truck, this pillock has woken up and starts steaming up my inside, where does he think he’s going? I’m level with the arse end of the next truck!
Looking in my mirror I can see that it was short lived and he’s dropping back and weaving again.
Sorry if I woke you up mate!

Some strange people out there Ian…

Seems a fair old punch Stoke/Cowdenbeath/Stoke in a 1er. :open_mouth: 550 mile is it? …or is it just so far back,
I know the roads will be quiet, but you must be close to the limit, and totally ballsed if an unforseen occurs are you not?

Agreed that’s a good trek, if you meet traffic delays/closures all plans are screwed.

Can’t be arsed to work it out, but on limiter (or beyond) as soon as out the gate I would reckon.

just curious - what time would you be coming past J44 at ? (roughly ) I travel the same strech of road every other Friday night from Carlisle to ■■■■■■■■■■■ .

i would imagine if he leaves at 02.00 he would be in the Carlisle area about 4am

According to google it`s 560miles round trip, using the M74 and M8. So average 56mph on 10hours driving. . .Or take the A702 to cut a few miles off?
But, “Having quite a fast motor,(But not as fast as Stuart Nicol’s), am able to pass most others.” may be a very relevant sentence?

Takes me an hour exactly to get from First Milk in cowdenbeath to the yard in Eurocentral with a good run. I reckon I would struggle to do Eurocentral to stoke in a 4.30 drive with a good run at 54mph. With all the road closures at night, even with a generous limiter, not sure that run could be done in the one shift.

Change over at Southwaite, exactly half way.

Leave Stoke between 01.30 and 02.00, exactly 2 hours 45 to Southwaite.

By “Fast motor”, I mean one that will do a genuine 56, not the 54/55 that the majority do, but can’t hold a candle to SNT motors.
We are routed over the 702, which is 20 miles shorter, but as that is still a 40 limit, it’s not as quick as M74/Bellshill/M8 with a loaded decker.
Usually make Cowdenbeath in about 5 hours 45.
