Free Parking for Employees

So, do many companies charge their employees to park their cars in the yard? I heard of 1 localish company about 20 years ago that was charging something like a quid a day for the drivers mainly trampers, to park.
Just seems to come up as some sort of perk in job adverts that employers include free parking for drivers, I’m sure it’s not for truck parking as it is on an advert for day work.

The ones that make me chuckle are “free uniform” as if they’re doing you some sort of favour  . I’ll stick to my comfy casual jeans ta.

The below always amuses me. As if they’re doing you some kind of favour.

Maya Hawke could amuse me.

Parked up in Bury St Edmunds a long time ago & the guy next to me reckoned his boss deducted a pound a night for the night heater.

Is cpc periodic and medical ment to be on employee too?

Company pension scheme is another. They mean their legally obligated contributions under auto enrolment…

These are the responsibility of the driver. So a company supplying them is definitely a perk.

Yes, there’s no mandatory requirement for employers to pay for either of those, though most do pay for the DCPC, but some claw it back a bit at a time :unamused: I’ve never been paid to have my medical

Our lot pay for DCPC attendance (in house) driving licence renewal, medical, eye test, digi card, we also get the day off and paid 10 hours upon production of a valid doctor/hospital/dentist appointment.

■■■■ you unions, what have you ever done for us?

I remember working for an agency many years ago and being sent to Budgens distribution centre in Wellingborough. When I got there they told me I wasn’t allowed to park in the car park because I was an agency driver and I would have to find somewhere to park on the industrial estate…so I just went home. ■■■■■■■■ to them.

I’ve done Budgens in Wellingborough, they used to keep you waiting until they knew if their drivers had all turned up for work, they tried it with me a couple of times, they said after about an hour of waiting, we won’t need you today so you can go home and get 4 hours for it. I told them I was on a minimum of 8 hours so sign my time sheet and I’ll be on my way. No joy, an argument started and I wouldn’t give in to them so I had to sit there for 8 hours but still got paid a shift. Did it again next day, same outcome, agency phoned me on the second occasion to book me again but said if they don’t want me I will only get paid 4 hours, I said I don’t think so! send me somewhere else then, find another mug that’s going to get up at 4a.m. For 4 hours pay!
