bald bloke:
4 on 4 off though is usually a different ball game with regards to annual leave.
Are the annual hours less than full time?
Not sure how it all works but generally you’ll always get less, I done it for 6 yrs and used to get 21 days off and I think it’s something to do with hours off based on 12 hr days as opposed to 8 hr days.

AH - if you mean the driver gets paid 12 hours for each days holls instead of 8 then that would make sense

The holiday thing does get complicated but when I was 4on/4off for Sainsbury’s we got paid 42hrs per week (as this it what you’ll average based on 12 hr shifts) as opposed to 48 hrs for the 5/7 lads & where as they got 33 days holiday per annum we only got 24 (iirc) but bear in mind that you can have 20 days off with just 8 days holiday taken it was excellent imho.
iirc we only worked something in the region of 154 shifts per annum (less any o/t days of course) on a basic of around £27,500 most of us were hitting +/- £37,000 with judicious use of overtime & still having loads of time off. If I hadn’t moved away I’d still be doing it without a doubt; & if my current employers ever offer me 4 on/4 off I’ll ■■■■■■ their hands off!
was working 5/6 days a week. changed to 4 on 4off shift due to wife nagging and 2 kids never seeing me! get 22 days holiday a year, slight drop in pay but do get extra shifts offered to me regular. that makes a big difference. paid every 2 weeks though. that is the bad point at our place. same wagon all the time mostly, home every night. was away 1 to 4 nights a week before, not good for your marriage! all depends what your situation is, and if you can afford a slight drop in pay.
