Hi all,
Im asking this as an “Alias” as some on here may know the company involved if i use my regular name, so here goes.
I left a large food company with depots throught the UK just over 2 years ago, in the last week a former collegue has brought it to my attention that the transport office is submitting manual entry analogue Tacho’s in my name, these are mainly showing
“other work” as i was office based at the time of leaving.
The above also applies to a driver that emigrated in May of this year and a former driver now warehouse based at the depot.
Im sure the reasoning behind it is to improve the department figures for Tacho’s submitted on a infringment / non infringment bases obviously the greater number of clear Tacho’s submitted gives a better figure. When i worked in the office all Tacho’s were scanned of to moorepay for analysis so they would have scanned copies also i would think.
So the question is what next? is it worth reporting?
Thoughts please
Many Thanks
Considering your “what next” question, seems to raise another question that might help you decide the first one…
Given that (you say) the company are using your name in this way, I’d suggest that you first consider whether you object to them doing this?
From the info you’ve given, it does seem that you need to decide what approach to adopt.
Reporting the matter confidentially might lead to an investigation, which might prove or disprove what you’ve said. If you take that route, then it’s possible that the authorities might take the appropriate action.
If the authorities investigate independently for some other reason, it may be that you would have some serious explaining to do, because it might appear that you’re involved to some extent, since you didn’t report the matter. You also wouldn’t know what other folks might say under caution in an interview.
Another approach that you might adopt is to ask the company whether the things you’re suggesting on here are actually true, and if it’s true, you could ask them to stop doing such things. However, this might compromise the person who gave you the info in the first place.
It’s difficult to know exactly what course of action to suggest, so I’ll refrain from doing so, because there’s only you who knows the full situation and there’s only you who can decide where your loyalties lie.
