Forklift Training as DCPC

Has anyone done this? I was on holiday last week, rang TM on Friday to find out what I’m doing Monday and I’m on a forklift course. It’s an allday course so I’m hoping it’ll be towards DCPC. Anyone else done one that has?
I don’t want to be forklift trained in all honesty but will take it as a necessary evil towards another 7 hours. The reason for my reluctance is that in a previous job, being trained in operating something else led me to being taken off the road in what was meant to be a “trial” in which I was screwed over. Hence I’m not trusting of any employer now saying “we want you to learn this…”

Bump this thread.

Does anyone have anymore info on this.

On another thread a driver was taking a Hiab course and that counted as 7hrs toward his DCPC so I would assume your Fork lift one would be classed the same. Eddie.

If the course is JAUPT approved then it will count for your DCPC.Is your gaffer really giving you something for nothing though.?

It’s not ‘something for nothing’…as Muckaway will now be a qualified fork lift operator, which increases his value to his employer.

In an ideal world, Muckaway might even get his hourly rate increased to reflect his new skill and reward his flexibility, but it stopped being an ideal world some time in the 1980s.

I did my 35 hrs by doing a forklift and 4 ALLMI crane courses with different cranes/attachments=5X7 each course was a"refersher" so done by noon… for the blue card-JOB DONE 5 x£70.00 at weekends(sat mornings) :sunglasses: :sunglasses: :sunglasses: :sunglasses: :sunglasses: :sunglasses: :sunglasses:

Not so sure about that. Sure its a 5 day course to gain a forklift ticket for the first time.

7 hours is for a refresher.

I did my flt course as a beginner in one day at Mark 1 hire in rochford last year. I asked about the 3/4/5 day courses I’d seen, but the instructors view was that they contained a hell of a lot of padding, and they were confident that for a small class (2 in my case) we’d only need the one day.

The other guy on it was a mark 1 employee, who’d been driving them for years, just never got the ticket, we were all done by 4pm. Good crack of a day!

Gary

Did mine in a day and got the 7 hours.
Straightforward training, couple of hours of theory to start with, then a couple of hours or so of practical operating the forklift, followed by the test.

The more pieces of paper you have to wave at prospective employers the better these days.

Firstly Saniason if that is an RTITB or ITSSAR certificateand you are a novice then that is a 5 day course for 3 people 4 days for 2 people and 3 days for 1 person.

As for dcpc if it is done by the book you have to have 7 hours training and your test are outside of the 7 hours meaning an 8 hour course plus breaks.

A 5 day course is worth 4 days cpc
A 4 day course is worth 3 days cpcp etc etc and this is due to the test day.

At the minute we can offer cpc on nearlly any truck you wish via the RTITB. However they do not have a 1 day course.

We have that through JAUPT but they only would accredit us for Counterbalance HIAB and Moffett so becareful what you buy.

Edit as I put 3 gays not days ha ha  fat fingers small phone

If your unsure pm me and I will try my best to help to dave your money

Stupid stupid phone SAVE money not dave. I am off to bed long day and all that…

Ldt - dunno, I just did a 1 day course and left it with a RTITB card and certificate, as a novice. So maybe they weren’t following the rules, but I’m not too bothered as I got the end result!

Gary

You might not be but they might now you have advertised they alledgedly break the rules

The DCPC has to consist of 5 lots of 7 hours training with most likely a break for lunch. If you were all done by noon then you should have started at 04.00 A.M.There is no actual need to complete the flt course if its a 3 day course with an exam at the end of it and you only require 1 more module you would not have to complete the flt training for DCPC purposes.

Who cares ffs?!■■? :unamused: :unamused: :unamused: :unamused: :unamused: If the sole reason for doing it is to get your ticket to continue driving after September then who cares how long the course takes! :unamused: The shorter the better.

Too many do-gooders. :unamused:

Why on earth do you need a 3 day course to learn to drive a bloody forklift :open_mouth:

I wont be paying for that then :open_mouth: :open_mouth:

Some might see it as a waste of time sat in a classroom for 35 hours when the same time could be put towards gaining a ticket to do other things… Of course you pay extra for this privilege.

Out of interest, what’s the average cost of a forklift course? Fancy getting my license.
