Thanks for these pics Casual Observer, certainly does look very restorable

I see someone else resorted to the battery cover rubbers to hold the bonnet flap down

Wouldn’t mind either of these!

Bit different!

Here’s a couple that I used to drive.

A poor quality scan of a photo , unable to make out Reg No , but will try & decipher it .

Another few photos to post soon .

Reg No now known LHX 723P

Classic 80s Brit/Euro look!

WOULD THAT NOT DO NEW LENGTHS?

Would certainly make the link-span groan a bit!

As can be seen from photos , was in extremely poor condition & has since been used for component recovery & broken up.

Was one of a fleet ran by Glasgow District ( or City ) Council , for waste transfer duties , using tipping & flat trailers

Another 2 of the Transcontinentals ran by Glasgow Council , 1 with a trailer load of waste .

Sure it would over here, but all the ones iv seen have been Sweedish or Danish, running over there .Have seen a couple in UK docks, but they only change the Trailers

Re the Glasgow Council Transcontinentals , this must have been the largest fleet in Scotland , and certainly one of the larger fleet users of this unit , using at least 12 of these , including 8 consecutively numbered units LGB 1V through to LGB 8V , yet info & photographs are almost non existent .

highways operated this one

Identical bodies on them , but different vehicles .

TGA 840W was always yellow , & original vehicle documents show this , & that it was a City of Glasgow District Council ( Department of Cleansing ) vehicle , this is what was under white patch on door ( compare with LGB 7 V ) same logo & position

TGA also never had a headboard fitted , roof lining was still covered in factory polythene , & had original Laidlaw Trucks sticker in top centre of windscreen , this is not on the Highway vehicle .

Also TGA has a Light bar & beacons on wrecker body , whereas Highway has beacons on headboard

Sorry Revman ,

Seem to have jumped in a bit early there , I now realise you did not post it as being the same vehicle
