decent bread none of those soft flowery rolls that disintegrate as soon as you put a bit of hp on them crusty/French stick’s/brown no cheap Tesco/sainsbug’s/makro crap
American style breakfast; Pancakes with maple syrup.Waffles and grits(Potatoe).
make the other half of the van with a Cpl of beds in it and a massage table, then when the bint from my previous post finishes one shift, she can start on her other shift…( you might want to make sure she washses her hands 1st though as I hate my eggs salty).filled rolls and ■■■■■■■■,im not sure what picture you would put up on your sign though.,and hopefully all the eggs she gets will be unfertilized,or youl be giving her maternity leave… it works that way all over Europe with roadside vans and a Taliban bint in the front sitting knitting with a candle on the dash. if you start another bint, then she could open up on the A 69 somewhere, and cover all bases?..

As others have said, decent sausages , describe where they’re from, eg “O’ Rileys of Woodhall Spa organic Lincolnshire sausages”People care where their food comes from.
Decent eggs cooked properly, no coppering. A range of cold filled sandwiches and baps is good, not everyone wants a fry up.
Heinz beans and ketchup, not generic catering ones.
Crusty bread/French stick.
Aluminium tables and chairs cleaned regularly, not crap plastic ones.
If you do chips and have the space for a chipper, proper (not frozen) chips done in dripping, very good.
Is it going to be in a lay by? What would be really good would be for the chairs to be away from the road on a separate patch of land next to the van. Maybe out of the rain under a small marquee type affair? No one wants to sit and eat with traffic thundering past. Bit difficult to do but if the van is always in the same place, speak to a landowner.
And the strippers! Don’t forget the strippers!
Fab idea.
Also, organise a stand up comic on a Thursday and Friday afternoon, a live band twice a week and all the food served by lovely young things.
Knock up a little marquee with chandeliers and a fountain as well so drivers all feel at home. A masseuse every Wednesday afternoon and for the weekend lads, Sky Sports on a widescreen TV so they can keep up with the footie!

Wash your hands before serving each customer=shows you are clean and hygineic.
Proper bread, not pre sliced mothers pride.
Bacon roll in a roll, not a bap!
Decent tea bags, not happy shopper specials.
French sticks.
Fresh fruit salads in small takeaway containers.
The offer of tea/coffee in a proper mug.
Decent bacon/sausages.burgers, not the cheapest in costco. Put a sign up telling people where you get your products from.
Having read all 3 pages it seems:
-
Toilet facilities would be appreciated, although not absolutely necessary.
-
Serve decent tackle, preferably locally sourced, not £10 per tonne bacon & bread. Seems most are happy to pay a bit more for decent stuff. Drivers should however respect you are not intended to be a gourmet 5* restaurant with prices to match.
-
Have as much variety as is possible within the limited space available. Include healthier options as well as the traditional bacon, egg, sausage, burgers, etc…
Possibly 1 signature dish & 1 veggie option. Stock fruit. -
Jokes have been made, but it is an absolute fact that employing a pretty damsel, especially one who has the gift of the gab and enjoys the banter, will attract trade (especially repeat trade).
-
There are few places available for parched drivers to get a cup of tea at 3 or 4pm.
Good luck, we need places like this.
If the van is there permanently, fly a flag when open.
Yep a bloody big union flag, better still a massive White Ensign like what Nelson flew from the Victory
Something that can be seen a long way off. Or even two flags!
and as soon as you fly the union flag, then that will make sure with absolute certainty that itl only be English drivers that stop at you,all the scots, and irish etc will starve for another 5 mins and stop at the competition elsewhere. if you are in any doubt to that one, then refer to the world cup. England supports the 1 country,if your scots, irish welsh etc, then we have about 50 countries to support,i.e whoever England is playing against on that particular day.fly the flag, and watch everybody non English fly past you…on a nice day,get the single parent stereotypespunkbucket to sit on a chair at the start of the laybye, youl soon be busy.simple as that.

In which case all those drivers driving on by must be as ill informed as you are.The Union is the national flag of the United Kingdom of which Scotland and N.I.are parts. The St George cross is the flag of England.
try presenting your self well, shaven, clean cloths
use rubber gloves when handling food
don’t park the van in the middle of the lay by it makes it awkward to park
quality food works even if it is more expensive
clean the griddle some look like breeding ground for all sorts puts me right off eating
opening hours when you work till 8 in the evening it would be great to find somewhere open at 5 so you can get something before you finish work
theres a few just for starters and good luck the fact your asking means you taking it serious
as bald bloke said in a round about way, just keep everything clean and tidy,oh yeah good grub would not hurt either[LOL]seriously though a good variety of food is nice [cold or hot ]and decent tea or coffee, the ones I have gone to in the last few years leave a lot to be desired, its very rare to get a nice cuppa or coffee,if you can do that you will allways get regular customers
I agree with serving something other than fried food. I try to avoid this, I have cut down on my bread intake. I agree with serving soup, stew, patsa and salads. The fill of hot water is a class ideal. I wouldn’t mind paying 50p for that. And yes because I did 3 years has a chef I always watch how others handle food and how clean a place is. Name brands all the way. Nothing as hateful has a cheap sauce of coffee. If u have a toilet on site make sure its clean. I judge a lot pubs and rest restaurants by their toilets.

correct or otherwise, the union flag symbolises England, hence my opinion stands, if your in any doubt as tho how the rest of us perceive England, then try looking at northern Ireland for a simple example. union flag, georges cross…England…whether its in some toilet pub in spain,or any of the poxy chippy vans in laybys, thats what it implies to the rest of us.
Well there are a lot of union flags flown in NI aren’t there?
Would you avoid a van in Scotland with a Saltire flying? I wouldn’t.

Of course you wouldn’t. But that’s because you along with many Scots, Welsh and Irish are well adjusted and grown up.

which is why mosts attitude and opinion of the English flag is the way it is.especially in northern Ireland where the union flag is taken to be representing Britain (English) and treated accordingly.not by me in northern Ireland,as its only the george sross represents the same in Scotland.at least Scotland seems to by trying to grow up and remove the leech that’s been sucking it dry the last few hundred years…but then again, who cares when your at truckie level, itl make no difference to the working joe either way.i don’t imaging an independand Scottish football team will fare any better.at least we have the decently to get scrubbed out almost immediately instead of sraping into a fewgames, then getting the boot…( this could be the lead in for another 1966 bleat)
Thanks to you all for some real quality feedback. Re flags : I know they attract the drivers but I hate to see beautiful land scape spoilt with them. That just look out of place.
Anyways , I will be taking on board all the comments . Thanks again from…
The Rocket.
well said with the flags, and if you show your tart applicant the posts frm me,and she still wants the job, then you know you have definitely picked the right one…
