Pinched it Dean to save folk hunting for it,if that’s ok

Impressive bit of kit
This is borrowed from CMN with permission, perhaps some have seen it before? I thought it looked a smart Foden with the sleeper. With the S80 would that cab have been modified by Foden or another firm? Does the lengthened grill mean the big Gardner or just a bigger rad?

There are similar Foden heavy tractors with the same sleeper/crew cab so likely a factory fitting and the extended grille could also be used for the bigger ■■■■■■■ engines used as well as the Gardner 8LXB. This one below says it has the S83 cab but I presumed the S83 only had the Foden name in block letters on the grille without the kite badge. There was also an S80 MkII cab which seems to have had little mention probably because it is so similar to the S80/83 the difference must be unnoticeable from the outside. Franky.

Did Foden build their GRP cabs in house?

Yes, complete cabs and mudguards until they started using Motor Panels steel ones for the cab frames but even then the GRP parts were made in their fibreglass shop. We went round the factory one evening in 1975 and the fibreglass shop wasn’t a pleasent place to be in even though work had stopped several hours previously.
Pete.

Thanks Pete.
Should have guessed as Foden built so much in house. Dad went round the factory in, I am guessing, about 1972. I was not included in the trip much to my annoyment. I think it was close to the factory change?
Proper job:
I`ve been searching for a while and finally someone posted my old Foden on FB. I mentioned it and a reply came across as ," i sold that when new and i have a photo somewhere", then this popped up on delivery day. I got it when it was around 6 years old and it was a great motor
