Fodens.

A few more for you Larry,

Did you notice the little flap in the cab roof on the derbyshire granite lorry pete ? It was actually a mirror to watch the loading under the plant . i worked for hill head quarries who were owned by hughes bros and all their fodens were delivered cab and chassis . the paintshop at hill head built the bodies and hand painted them . It was only a single bay space , but the work they turned out was superb . I still remember watching billy brooks with his paintbrush , when it was done you would think it was sprayed . Ye gods that was nearly 60 years ago now . dave

IOW

try again

A lovely Foden I drove for Sandy Melville of Kirriemuir. Only a 4350 but I went round the clock in it.

Same Foden again with Sandy Melville (RIP) in front of it. Sandy could well be described as one of the “old school”.

I think by the reg number that lorry could be ex via gellia transport or even prior to that a recycling firm but I can’t remember the 3 initials

Sandy Melville bought it from a Foden dealer in Portlethen whose name escapes me and I cannot find it on google but his place was righ across
the main road from the meat factory. It had an annoying fault of developing a crack inside the alternator casing and arcing out on the chassis
which turned on the safe mode (20 mph), First time it happened we had a terrible time finding the fault, even the dealer’s mechanics who were very good
were baffled. Luckily it always happened within the alternator warranty so there was no expense only inconvenience. Apparantly it was something
to do with the electrical setup on the vehicle (It was referred to as a Select) and the alternator would have been fine on most other vehicles.

Morning Larry,
Don’t know who owned that motor from new, but in the pic it was owned by Kevin Fullard from Wolverhampton and the man who could tell you more than me as he went to school with Kev was our recently departed friend Trev H, here is a pic of his ERF which he ran before the Foden, Cheer’s Pete
edit: Larry, its a private reg. no, KFT Kevin Fullard Transport and looking back at one of Trev’s posts, Kev had it built by Fodens to his spec, a 525 ■■■■■■■ with a 18 sp fuller.

Thanks for the Info Pete, Regards Larry.
