hello ROF,what surprises me on invoice is heater £13,my dad and myself having worked for them drivers comfort was bottom of list. How spiteful or tight they where sums it up when they ordered a leyland freighter[BRS contract hire] they had radio removed!
To be fair, all our Albions came with heaters and 6-speed boxes, although the driver was allowed to supply his own radio which the firm’s fitters would fit for free. The same went for any extra fog/spot lamps, etc.
pete smith:
Trev, your bang on again mate it was called John Nicholls ta Pete
Pete, I don’t know if they were any relation but there was another timber firm called E H Nicolls on the Horse and Jockey roundabout on Bilston rd.
They later moved to Fordhouses and BRS had 3 contract vehicles on for them, 2 D series 4 wheelers and a Buffalo artic.
heres a couple of pics of the only foden millers ran, apart from the steamers,1st when new 2nd in a well used condition.A chap called Eddie Baynes drove her for a bit then left and went to drive for Goodyears at wolverhampton
Trev the Nicholls on staffofd rd was next to goodyears at fordhouses and was’nt their motors brown, that leyland buffalo did that end up on imi with a tipping trailer with a driver called Errol?

I didn’t know Eddie drove that Pete, he also worked at BRS with me for a while, he was on the agency after Goodyears finished but retired a few months ago.

Yes Pete, I think Errol drove it as a spare motor when that timber job finished.
