Flasks and hot drinks . .

ok . . . good flasks that you can recommend ? ? ?

Also, how do you enjoy your hot drinks ?

On a recent regular run, 4 hrs each way, I have been taking a 500ml flask of tea and a 500ml flask of coffee.

The tea I have drunk en route, having poured it into a travelmug at a point when I have been inevitably stationary in roadworks on the M62!!!, and the coffee I have drunk with my baggin on my 45mins rest.

However, tea with milk in a flask is pretty naff, so I am looking at better options for a more perfect brew.

Any good flask recommendations ? Any good hot brew tips ?

Carry just the boiling water in the flask.Carry tea, coffee, milk etc seperately. The drink tastes much better.

Take out a hudge loan carry a wad of fiftys then just go to those friendly rip of merchants in costa lot coffe at your nearest services

This. I’ve got a 1litre flask with jars of tea coffee and powdered milk in the cab. I find pouring a hot drink is like waving a magic wand; As soon as you make one you get the “we’re ready now, Drive…”
Oh, don’t buy the cheap glass lined flasks in ASDA and shops with suntanned employees…

You just need a good flask or a couple of good flasks, you can get hot water for free almost anywhere you go. You get milk and sugar from the fuel stations & services, if you are cheeky you can even get teabags but they are never very good quality, the spoons are OK though!

Iv got the Stanley Bolt Flask says keep it warm for 24hours
Haven’t tested it yet

+1

Always carry the ingredients, but nick some boiling water from wherever i’m at and save me flaskful for just in case.
SWMBO found me a plastic bottle with a central gel filled portion which you can pre freeze, keeps the milk fresh all day in the summer.

Asda sell a 1 litre flask with the push-button top for about a fiver.

Keeps hot enough for 8 hrs, and singe-handed operation
means you can…[saying no more… in fear of the bleedin’ liberals]

I use a Vango stainless 1 litre jobby, keeps coffee hot for the whole shift.

Don,t no about the best flask to buy But try pre heating the flask with hot water before you put your coffee in it helps keep it hot for longer.

carry a little cooker, and a small pan.
i don’t take milk or sugar. i’m sweat enough.

Mine’s a 1litre Thermos stainless steel, and it’s in use right now :sunglasses:

Snap, top quality flasks and will take a bounce or two!

You can’t get a decent cuppa from a flask! My little primus does the job…

2 flasks of boiling water (1 litre stainless steel flasks), bag of tetley tea bags in door pocket, milk in a 500ml pop bottle in door pocket then place in cool box with top up milk if stopped for a long time, make a fresh brew when stationary(ish) on M62 or wherever, can get 3 mug fulls of tea out of each flask but have a stove, kettle and water carrier if I run out.

It’s in use again…It was that or polish the interior and I’m far too busy for that…

I dont use flasks at work as i tramp and have a kettle. I do however, do a lot of hill walking and use the cheap unbreakable flasks from asda that cost about £3-4. You can sometimes get them on garage forecourts as well when filling up. They are only small (250ml I think) but as you only use 1 at a time, the 2nd stays hotter for longer.
I usually just have tea ready made in them as its what the wife, kids and I all drink on the hills but it does stain/taint them quite bad so just hot water can be a good idea. Maybe pocket fulls of uht milk cartons is a solution?
Definately agree with preheating the flask first though, makes all the difference.

Ive got a 1.8L Thermos with the glass insert and as long as you pre heat it for 5 mins with boiling water its good for 15-18hrs with coffee inside…
It also doubles as a great cooler for cold water…
