First UK Volvo 750

Saw a taz trans R730 pulling a fridge the other week… it was a 4x2. :unamused:

Still if you’re coining it in, may as well spend it.

Daddy should employ someone “With more power.” Maybe someone who could shut the fridge door easier.

I thought Stobart had that 750 Volvo a while back?

It was in the series, so must be a while before this?

I like the top spec Volvo’s, they’re a nice place to be, BUT, still not perfect… Which at over 100k, they bloody should be, but I’ve not driven the 750, so it might be perfect, but I doubt it.

Why did they stick with 6 cyl instead of going v8? Not saying V8 is better in anyway, just a question.

Theres a greyish coloured 750 pulling Mammoet tauts. But if thats an official VOLVO vid claiming to be the 1st then they must be. Also if I mind right there a SCANIA dominated company? STrange they went for a Volvo over the 730?

Yes they were scania dominated company but they had one engine problem so they decided to buy 2 man’s and it seems 3 volvos now

I have an arse and back problem with Scumia’s that keeps me away from them where possible.

Friday, a good 600km in a Volvo, no probs, Yesterday 650km in a Scumia, still aching now.

Evil pieces of crap

All in the mind! About 900,000 km in Scanias in the past 5 years and never even the slightest ache. So 650km and your in pain? Pfffftttt, lightweight

No, 650km and I’m still in pain the next day, 50km and I’m in pain in the pieces of junk…

Must say though, I drove a LHD one last year and found that fine. The RHD ones are just offset and twisted and ■■■■■■

Ah I thought so, you fallen for the longstanding myth. That was the p cab in the 90’s. Legal action was taken but Scania have never been able to shake off the myth in some people’s minds that it’s all Scanias even now. The mind is a powerful thing.

Not a myth, sit slap bang in middle of seat, put arms out and the steering wheel is just not there… Same with pedals, the one I drive has 3 pedals, and they’re just a bit to the right, like I’m wearing a skirt and trying not to flash tomorrows laundry.

Then there’s where to put your foot when on a motorway, just a generally crap truck.

I like the Actros, but they fitted it with a daft cup holder that spills your brew all over your gearbox so you’re stuck in 7th at a gatehouse.

I liked Volvo FH’s till one locked me out after the wind blew the door shut, I know you’re an auto mr Volvo, but you still need a steering wheel attendant to release your bloody handbrake.

and why do they keep fitting such poxy horns, if I’m pressing the horn, I want the person to know that it’s a big truck beeping, not an Austin Metro, DAF have a decent horn, so it can’t be legislation

Rant now on a 45

We I am and the steering is just where I expect it on my 10 plate. So are the pedals. It also was on the two 06’s before that. You think after having successful legal action taken against them they’d carry on making trucks in the same way? No of course they wouldn’t. If they carried on making them the same way don’t you think we’d be hearing about endless legal cases against them like the few in the 90’s?

I’ve been driving nothing but Scanias for the past 5 years and yes, it most certainly is a myth.

Errrr on the floor possibly?

The big 750 is class but the trailer need’s to be levelled up more,it look’s like it’s overloaded by riding so high at the front and low at the rear. If you could put a Volvo steering seat’s and brake’s behind the Scania screen then you’d be on a winner. If i had to pick from experience it would have to be Volvo,as has been said the Scania driving position is offset slightly, back ache set’s in fairly fast for me too.
While someone mentioned the Actros cupholder the only problem i have is the cup handle sits to the right, left would be better. I put my thermos cup into the normal cup which fit’s squarely in the holder, but im sure you all did’nt need me to tell you how to do that  .

Stobarts was a 700

Dont see the harm in buying one, its not like anyone ever pays list price.

25 years ago what were people thinking of the F16 when everyone was trundling around in 250bhp sheds

Ahh, remembered it was a biggy.

I never said there was any harm in them buying it, hell, we want people to buy them, then we get a chance at them, they’re no good sat in a showroom

Ellies dad, the cupholder in the Actross leans back slightly, so filling the thermos cup you can see it towards you, also, most cups just don’t fit right and fall out of the cup holder, I’ll give the Scumia that, the cup holders rule.

Why is the Scumia windscreen so far away? I stick my sat nav on the rev counter, can’t reach it on the windscreen.
