Hi Alex, is it your first truck or just first new one? If it’s your first truck I would consider used first and if your looking for a light weight truck maybe a Renault Premium?/Daf CF
If you are looking for new you really need to look at quote’s from different manufacturers as the enclosed drawings and weights and dimension calculations can be listed differently, ie some include driver, adblue, fuel and engine fluids but some have different weight drivers and different % of fuel.
If overall weight is paramount than cab space is always going to be an issue, a few manufactures offer a mini-mid lift option to save weight although these can be more expensive to buy.
Your local Renault dealer should have details of the new mini-mid lift truck, it should offer a compromise of bigger cab and lower weight.
Good luck.

So Renault now do a lightweight lift axle?
Thanks for your replies, no, not my first truck, I’ve been going for 10 years now and am sick of repairing the older stuff I’m running. So far this year burnt valve in my MAN, clutch in one of my Cfs, blown turbo in another CF and now my Actros has lost 4th and 8th gears
I’ve made my mind up and going for an FM500 which is being delivered for 1st March, if it works out OK will get one more each year for next 3 years then replace them every 5 or 6 six years…it may just save my sanity!!

We are just waiting for the final pricing for the mini-mid lift and then will order one as a demonstrator. Hopefully you’ll be able to order them in the next few weeks.
How did Truckfest go for you Lozenge? (Good to meet you lol).

Hi Beaver, you too.
Truckfest was quite entertaining on the whole, there were more trucks there than I had anticipated although disappointed there were not more manufacturers involved, just us and DAF.
Unlike DAF who had mainly locked customers trucks on their stand, we had the full range and all open to the general public The vast majority were parents with their kids treating the trucks as part of the funfair
but we did manage to get a few operators in and plenty of drivers.
Drivers feedback is still very good with lots of surprise to both the finish of the cab interior and the room inside, It’s an expensive operation and takes plenty of planning and on average 15 staff on each day on the stand but on the whole I felt it was necessary for us to be there.
Some of my favourite moments from the weekend were a couple (stobart spotters) from the south coast, the lady had always been too heavy/big to get in a truck, but had lost weight and achieved her ambition in our new T Range, A local teacher who asked loads of questions about truck costs, fuel, insurance etc as he wanted to use the figures for a class project for his school and the car park attendants who made me park in the furthest part of the car park on the Sunday when I had 6 trays of sandwiches to carry
I am sure overall the leads we have will end up covering the cost, but overall more a PR tool then a sales one.
