So applied at lunch time today and had a call back 15 minutes ago. Excited but also kind of nervous as this will be my first interview for a class 2 job so any tips?
Worth wearing shirt and pants or go causal, jeans and smart jumper?
Anyone work for/worked for them? I expect it’s quite a tough job but advertised at £11.22 and 45 hours so seems decent enough, especially when I see Class 1 jobs offering £10 or less. What sort of trucks are they operating? My training was done in a Renault, obviously automatic.
Appreciate any tips, advice.
Edit - Presume this is the WH Smith contract.
Don’t know specifically, but would go in clean work clothes (work trousers / t-shirts) then you’re ready to do the job.
Shirt and such really isn’t suitable and I guarantee they’ll at least want you to fo walk round checks and possibly an assessment drive.
One thing about Tuffnells seems to be foot flat down, even if you’re going 1mph faster than the one in lane 1. Never seen one being overtaken, which really puts me off. I come across them at M6 J23, and many have tried to run me off the roundabout and slip road onto the motorway as I can’t go at 55mph instantly.
If they are paying £11 for days, then I would suggest a lot of graft and rush rush as its not a specialist job or “dead mans shoes”. Theres a good chance they have to pay that (even if its the min we really should be getting).
Congratulations on landing a job so quickly. Maybe the negativity might lessen as this is happening more often. I’ve no specific advice for Tuffnells but I wish you all the best.

Never worked there but i know someone who did, he was on parcel delivery 7.5t but he had the same route/town every day so i suppose it might be ok once you get used to where the customers are, i think he had 80 to 100 drops from memory, class 2 will more than likely be different, but it will probably still be graft, but theres nothing wrong with that
hope your interview goes well, casual smart dress code jeans and jumper or shirt . be polite and make sure you take all the licenses and proofs etc
I work for these and can tell you the following as I have done class 2 and class 1 days for them along with occasional 7.5 work
They pay well and will look after you if you put the work in , they need people that are flexible in their approach ( I drove three different vehicle types on Friday)as you could be asked to do a different round when your established to cover for absences . they try to keep you on the same round for at least 9 months to get used to that before learning others and your probation last three months with support from another driver .
as someone said below yeah its foot to the floor work to get everything done but not at the expense of silly risks or breaking driving hours rules .
vehicles are in the process of being upgraded from depot to depot and the management are usually good to deal with (I work at Darwen)
good luck and pm me if you need another advice
