Alright, I’ve lurked around here enough already, about time I pay my dues.
I’ve just finished my first full days’ driver training with Peter Smythe training.
After completing my “starter pack” (medical, theories, case studies & assessment drive) with another training provider I was left feeling apprehensive as to whether driving lorries professionally was the right shout for me.
The assessor, didn’t seem too impressed with my driving and competence on the road.
Whereas I believed I was fairly competent after years of agricultural experience and van driving.
Alas, I’m totally relieved to find that after great constructive criticism and fantastic tutelage from my trainer Chris my anxiety can be properly set aside for the mean time. I’ve still got a fair few bad habits to get squared away in tomorrow’s day of further training (with both my test and module 4 test on Monday morning) but I’m feeling confident.
Regardless of whether I pass or fail on Monday I will stand firm in my choice of training provider and will train here again. I’ve driven down from Edinburgh for this course (sat, sun & test Monday) and will again for my class 1 when I get this weekend out of the way.
I would also like to wish anyone else taking tests this coming week all the best.

How long, do you know yet that I’m psychotic?

Well best of luck pal, you couldn’t be in better hands…
P.S. Isn’t that weird, an instructor breaks you down to remove faults and then builds you back up!
