Where do they go then ?

Walking floors go to Benelux.

Milk tankers go all over the place but mainly France. They used to back load orange juice for Gerber at Bridgwater.

We - The guys piloting the Pink trucks are pretty proud of our european work. Over half the Worcester based fleet over the water each week… Germany, France, Belgium, Holland, Spain, Portugal, Lux and the Isle of Wight!!!

I saw a couple of Williams Recycling of Huntington quite a way down in France. Surprised me!

First time I went down to Saudi I saw Tesco, Asda, and the Post office ( Royal Mail ) and Tate and Lyle people had been taken them down as sellers. All still running their original colours.
A couple of Ralph Davis FH’s were operating in South Korea, there are a few versions of how they got there, doubt if it was overland though.

Jeff…

Ralphy used to do Kasakhstan and even further East towards the Chinese border. In some areas there were no tarmac roads just mud and pot holes.
Peter Gilder and Sons ltd went that way to t/a Russanglia ltd.
As you can you imagine the trucks were not designed for hardous conditions.
So road side repairs and make do bodge it to get it going until the next garage.Nobody to call out.
There is a Kasakhstan thread on the old timers forum.
In the Shell garage north of Le Mans that was nicknamed Eigors after the big hairy dog,you could see the trucks off the road in Kasak by photos of Ralphy trucks on the wall.

I work for Atchison Topeka and up until 2 months ago I used to go over regularly but since Bibby have got more involved with us they are now subbing it out to owner drivers and A.I.M logistics so it will be a very rare sighting of one of us over there now.
Pity really as I loved going over there, much prefer mainland Europe to UK work.
Any body need a driver to go over to Europe?,I’m all ears! Lol

Things have changed since I left then!

Before it was just the same 4 or 5 drivers snaffling all the euro work, including one I wouldn’t trust to drive round the corner let alone all way to Portugal!

But I bet she still has a job…despite being one of the most dangerous drivers I have ever encountered!

parked next to a Waters Ltd tipper in Sommesous last week , think they do scrap metal and general waste .

SHE HAS!!!

Still now that I have passed my Driver trainer exam (with my colleague set to do the same! ) We ll start the education there!
As for drivers abroad, mr D, we have this week alone 16 loads exiting, with 12 drivers. The work is shared about - more so now. There are guys who will never go abroad with the company, simply because if they cant circum-navigate the uk without getting lost, sending them to Macon or Pallais sur vienne is a real big NO!!!

Was delighted to see a Mortimers over the water last week too.
