Well after many months of waiting and various lockdowns to contend with I have now passed my C+E with no minors (which was a surprise to me) so not the hunt is on for that elusive first job to get me some experience 
Im guessing now I have to act like a professional driver

I was driving a class 2 for a bit while I waited for the class 1 slot to come up with the training school.
They wouldn’t give me the time off to do my training and exam so I handed my notice in
