I know this is not in any way truck related but I need a quick bit of advice.
Due to the high winds my fence has blown down. I live in a mid terrace with a house either side of me. So I have a fence on my left and right, which one would be mine?
I have rang my solicitor who did my house sale but they say it’s gonna take a week to sort out!!
Don’t wanna shell out for a fence and post if it’s not mine…and surprise my neighbour says its my fence!

In most cases the fence posts go in and the fence panels are on the front so that is your fence. If you see the fence posts its your neighbours fence.
So are you saying if the fence posts are flush with the panels then it’s my fence, and if they are exposed then it’s my neighbours fence?
the good side faces the person who doesn’t own the fence
if you can see the good side of the fence, it is your neighbours fence, if he sees the good side, it is yours
hope this helps
Ah well if that’s the case I’m off to jewsons/ wickes over the weekend.(other diy outlets are available)
I checked out the land registry and it shows both fences as mine good online system, only cost £4.00 too!
Just a red line surrounding my garden,it looks like I own both left and right and the rear one.
hi, when my fencing came down a few years ago , i contacted the council offices , then my solicitor, was told the fencing on the right had side would be mine , so i had it done.
the fencing on the left is the neighbours , not sure if this is how it goes.

Are you sure about this? You’re in a mid terrace and all the fences are yours■■?
If the ownership of the fence is not outlined within the title documents, it is then derived using rules of thumb. If one party (assuming this to be a fence dividing 2 plots) maintains the fence on a regular or sustained basis, they (and their titled property) would be deemed the owners of such a fence.
In the case that neither party has maintained the fence (as is often the case and the ownership dispute exists to enforce maintenance, please see Fence Maintenance) then the rule of thumb is that the side of the property on which the fence posts lie upon.

TBH I can’t believe it either.
I’ve spoken to my neighbour today and they are thinking about going halves if I replace the whole fence as this will benefit us both.
I’m happy if they keep to their word… We shall see.
An update will be posted mid week.
