Thatās a lot of money.
UPS might be a tad upset if the takeover is allowed. The EC blocked their proposed purchase of TNT a couple of years back.

IIRC FedEx are required to keep the TNT name for a year or so.

Itās half what UPS were going to pay 3 years ago, shows how much TNT is now worth with their losses getting worse.
It will most likely go ahead as Fed-Ex has a very small network in Europe whereas UPS already had a big presence so with buying TNT they would have had a monopoly so Europe stuck their oar in.
Also just read that if another company comes along within the next 8 weeks and puts in a bid 8% higher than Fedex, then the proposed takeover bid will be terminated. Probably only UPS who would be able to make a counter bid, but are unlikely to do so after failing the last time. So looks like the FedEx takeover is more or less a done deal.
This wonāt create any new jobs though. Might cost a few at TNT in āduplicationā - but I donāt think Iām going to find myself driving an orange creame up the M6 any time soon as a result of this ātakeoverāā¦
What are the TNT depots like, Fedex seem to have embarked on replacing some of their tired old depots with new premises.
A lot of the Fed-Ex depots are pretty tired from when they used to be ANC, with new business comes bigger buildings. Weāve outgrown ours but as yet nothing has been done about getting a new one.

Not my Radarā¦I wrote about this on a reply last week I think.
They according to something my accountant read want to expand all European operations in three next three years
Itāll be interesting to see how they integrate the hubs in Atherstoneā¦
Say what you like, but FedEx aināt doing bad for a firm started by a Vietnam vet!.
Seem to have been putting serious money into the fleet and infrastructure in recent years. Could do with Manchester, Aberdeen and Kilmarnock depots upgraded and the Gretna hub is waaay past its sell by date for the amount of vehicles/freight going through it nowadays

Not much they can do with the Kilmarnock depot I wouldnāt have thought. Got to be one of the smallest parcel depots Iāve seen. I reckon they might shut it down and move into the TNT depot in Linwood.

Could do, Iād heard recently (OK so it was canteen gossip) that the plan was to close it and move the freight through Eurocentral like they did with Dixon Blazes. Not much they can do with Gretna either where it is unless they bought out the engineering place.
Gretna is a better location than the previous one at Longtown, but it was found out quickly that it was not big enough to sort parcels, so they only sort cages and pallets, but I think theyāre running near to capacity, but having said that, theyāre very efficient, I have always had a quick turnround in there.
