Favourite Roadside Caffs / Burger Vans?

Hey all. For something we all see most days there’s a surprisingly little amount of chat online about burger vans. You know, the road side, fold-out-table-and-chairs, sizzling onions, questionable sausage kind of establishment.

Does TruckNet have any particular favourites? Anyone got a claim to the longest-running van? I’ve heard whispers of a caff near Saddleworth that’s been going for over 30 years…

Not quite the mobile van type establishment but I have fond memories of Greasy Joes in Cirencester, that was, not from parking up there but as a 20’ish year old it was not unusual to take the walk from town to there for some after drinks food, back when pubs closed at 11 and clubs kicked out at 2.

For a current establishment I’m going to say Micks’s Monster Burgers on Portsdown Hill Road. Some commonality with the 1st suggestion, in that I have some admiration for establishments that go for a 24hr offering, plus a nice view across Portsmouth. Wouldn’t expect to park an artic though.

There’s a very good reason why I know nothing about them, but each to his own. :grinning_face_with_smiling_eyes:

BP Alconbury

Did that not used to be a rather posh truckstop, with another, a bit less posh opposite, Deputy something or other?

As a kid remember was one next to M56 what is now Chester services. Used to always stop there as a child on way to caravan in Rhyl. Used be good think was open 24 7 did Sunday’s dinners newspapers etc. was nothing more than a caravan with tables was a popular place untill shell bought the land .
I know was there a good few years
As say was younger in my teens so maybe my memory isn’t that good but I definitely remember stopping there a lot during every school holidays on way to the caravan

If it counts John’s diner trafford park has been round a long time 30 years. Plus maybe.

The Pit Stop has won multiple awards.

Looking at the pic,if the only space available was the one on the bottom left , it would be a bit of a ball ache to reverse into. Welcome back Tobes ■■

I’m currently doing a regular job of tipping at Drakelow power station which is Burton on Trent and then reloading in Birmingham. This takes me on the A444 towards the M42. In a lay-by just before the M42 is a sit in cafe called The Whistlestop. The breakfast is fantastic, but he also does one of the best omelettes I’ve ever had.
