Favourite county to drive in and why

Not sure about Counties, but Countries I like to drive In are:-

Britain for a start as you have very few restrictions for trucks, i.e. You can overtake In the rain. You can overtake In roadworks & you can overtake on two lane stretches Of motorway In the daytime.

Switzerland. I just love going there.

Spain. Love going there too.

All four Scandinavian Countries.

I think thats all to often forgotten sometimes.

Tyrol valley near Waidring Austria.Venison stew with dumplings and purple cabbage.
The Basque and Navara areas of Spain. The Galician coastline towns of Vigo.No mass tourism there.
The mountain area of Andulucia with the town if Olviga home if the author of Driving over lemons by Chris Stuart a musician from Genisis living in a remote farm house cut off by a river in a pretty valley.
The small mountain villages are quaint.

London definitely… especially Peckham Rye…

  1. Norfolk at 04:00 in the morning.
  2. Suffolk at the same time as above.
  3. Herefordshire/Powys - gorgeous views.

Being weekended in the port of Newhaven.Biking to the Seven Sisters natural park or bus it to Eastbourne coffin dodger county.Or bike it to Brighton for a meal out and some celebrity spotting.
Good train links to Brighton too.
Folkestone is a great place to have time off.Good nightlife and a Kgv parking in the old hoverport depot with a cafe.
If up for it a bike ride to the power station at Dungerness.A cafe there and a mini steam train ride for the punters.

In the uk, definitely either Cornwall or anywhere in Scotland. Outside the uk, anywhere in the Netherlands. Love the Dutch!

Highlands, so little traffic on the roads and stunning scenery, very friendly people and a wee dram around a log fire all year round  .

North/east yorkshire :sunglasses:

Cheers

Jonny :sunglasses:

tyneside, county durham, teeside

any of them mean a minimum 10 hour shift and i like the people in that part of the uk

County, hmm never been to that small island actually. Heard some statement saying that it lives a lot of people there?

My absolute favorite country on the other hand is Norway in the winter. Twist and turns, small roads with slippery hills and a lot of snow on the road. Doesn’t get much better, absolutely love it. But you have to use the right equipment and know how to load to get the weight on the right place, completely different to how they want you to load out in Europe

Motorway countries and dry summer roads are not in my interest.

Saaamon:
Essex.

This (well North/East Essex all time favourite) and all of Suffolk, close 2nd!

It’s where I start and then come back too. And we aren’t talking about the M25 fence/corridor part of Essex that should be handed to London to have and hold forever!

C

herefordshire for me at the moment.every road in or out of the city has spectacular views

cheers darren

Haven’t passed my cat c yet , but I live in Norfolk and I appreciate how pretty it is , dusk over the fens between kings Lynn and Peterborough or out on the coast at sherringham or surrounding area is very pretty ,
My girlfriend lives in llanrug in north wales and I always enjoy the a5 outside of the holiday seasons ( in holiday seasons its full of bloody tourists crawling along !!) ,porth madog / aberystwyth / beddgelert area are stunning although I don’t think taking an hgv down there would be a particularly nice job , the roads are tiny

Any, I like the variety

Yorkshire , particularly Nidderdale , yes I am biased

Gary

Its just dawned on me have never driven outside the UK, even in the Army, except on motorbikes I didnt have a licence for  :open_mouth:
I do like the M6 heading up past Carlisle then the A69 on a clear winters day you can see the mountains covered in Snow, A9 is good but only when the snow is not on the tarmac
I also like the A5 heading past Corwen towards Betws y Coed, the view to Snowdonia is magic :sunglasses:

Cornwall … the land of pasty’s and ice cream

Anywhere on the Lleyn Peninsula, but only in a car. The roads are reasonably well maintained, though a bit narrow. The thing that does it for me is the fact that, compared with the rest of the UK they are relatively traffic- free, just like the country was fifty years ago.
