Police investigating a fatal collision at the entrance to the Red Lion truckstop are appealing for witnesses to get in touch.
Just after 11.55pm on Friday March 29 a silver Ford Ford Fiesta was in collision with the rear of a unlit stationary lorry trailer which was being hitched to a yellow series 4 Volvo tractor unit on the westbound slip road leading to the truckstop.
The man driving the Fiesta was sadly pronounced dead at the scene.
Do we assume that’s a waberers unit?
That layby/entrance would be full of unlit trailers every night, I did it when I worked for a company that didn’t pay parking.
unlit trailer on a public road at night leading to a fatal accident.
looks like the drivers tea is out now.
if they can find him amongst this lot?

On the subject of unlit trailers, the one that the police have abandoned on the a14 could do with shifting. Terrible place to leave it

I’ve been wondering about this one as well. What is it there for? I can see what looks like 2 camera lenses peeping out from the rear but surely they don’t need the entire trailer just for this?

I’m hoping there’s a spring loaded bucket of acid behind the door so when some thieving low life opens it it melts his face [emoji48]
The cameras are there to record it and put it on YouTube.

Sorry to disappoint you but its a empty ex Argos trailer with couple of black plastic covers on it to make it look like its got cameras recording. I used to have the job of moving it about every 6 weeks. When I used to collect it from the laybys, it always had bits missing and its got the old fashioned handbrake which people used to release hoping it might roll away and disappear. The police say where they want the trailer put, It is a stupid place they put it this time. Hope they put a fixed penalty on it for no lights at night
