What exactly is a Scumya? Is it some new Russian truck I’ve not heard of…
Last year there was this Polish reg MAN that passed me on the M4 westbound near the Severn Bridge like i was standing still, mustve been doing at least 70mph at it was keeping up with the national express coach in front
Passed it at the bridge Tolls while the driver was argueing with the attendant about the toll charge, didnt take long for him to pass me again, only this time a VOSA car was in hot pursuit I watched as he tried to stop them getting in front by tailgating a car in front, but the car sped off and they escorted him into Cardiff services

I’ll believe that he’s naturalised when I see his Irish Ferries jacket. As good as any passport.
Fast trucks eh?
Can’t do it now though unless I’m going downhill, the spoilsports have locked us down to 72mph now

I think we have a winner
The 18t DAF I have been driving the past few days tends to be a bit quicker then most trucks, maybe by a couple of mph, but I had a TNT artic pass me downhill on the M40 last night like I was standing still, he was pretty much out of sight within a couple of minutes, at a guess he was doing at least 70 with his silent downhill overdrive…
I had a fantastic day in a stralis once when the tacho, speedo and speedlimiter stopped working.
Don’t know how fast I was going but felt like I was actually driving not just a steering wheel attendant cruising on the limiter.
Enough go to overtake, wrote down my hours manually on back of tacho
I have some idea of how the job used to be in the old days now
I used to drive a Scania V8 with 460 horses for a Belgian fridge company. It had a mind of It’s own when It came to speed. Some days It would drive at 92km/h & some days 105km/h. Even with the cruise control on, the speed would vary. You’d set It for 90 km/h then 10 mins later you’d be doing 95 km/h. That Scania was an uncomfortable pile of ■■■■, but man she could fly…

I still remember the Irish 4x2 Scumya that passed me one night though, I was doing about 55 and there was a 6 wheeler DAF passing me at around 56/58, behind him was the Scumya, once the DAF pulled in, the artic alongside me dropped a gear (already doing 57/58?) and proceeded to pull up to about 68 before he’d passed the DAF and disappeared!
Hmmm - you sure he didn’t just drop it a cog and pass both of you in the third lane ? I think I remember doing silly things like that years ago .
I recommend a certain main dealer in Blaydon, tyne and wear for doing my tacho check. Had it done 3 weeks ago and they cocked it up shall we say…
Left their yard straight to do a collection, next thing, 74mph on my sat nav going past the Metrocentre!
I thank you ‘Truck and Trolley’ for that one days fun!
As newmercman says 72mph … my max as well.ONLY for if i need it normally womble about at 65mph wi one trailor as im on by the hr…but the mack vision my boss just bought 2nd hand rounds me up no prob.
