Farmfoods Anyone ?...£12.25 ph

Came across this doing my daily perusal of jobs if anyone in West Midlands area is interested.
Probably say goodbye to weekends but the rate looks attractive…

Class 1 LGV Licence;
A Digital Tachograph card;
Maximum of 6 points on driving licence;
No Dangerous Driving or Drink-Related endorsements on driving licence;
A high standard of customer service skills;
A friendly personality.

Minimum 40 hours per week over any 4/5 shift in a 7-day period. The majority of shifts are on a weekend working basis. Shifts are subject to change as required in order to provide the best customer service to Farmfoods stores.

In return, we offer:

  • £12.25 per hour;

  • 30 days’ holiday per year;

  • Company pension scheme after service qualifying period;

  • free provision of PPE.

Permanent position with immediate start available for the right person.

** Please note that in applying for this position, you will be asked to attend a group meeting at 2pm on Wednesday 2nd July 2014 at the Monkspath Depot, Unit 300 Highlands Road, Shirley, Solihull, B90 4NY with Mark Jobling, Transport Manager, to discuss the position in more detail. You should bring your driving licence to this meeting.

That’s in Solihull if I remember correctly… Most the drivers seem happy.

Its about 30 miles from me but the rate has me thinking whether it might be worth sending CV in and popping down for a look.

I like the challenge of store deliveries and a job with exercise via a bit of load interaction works for me.
Sure there will be extra perks like store discount card- or am I dreaming.

If you’re thinking of it, just pop down, that’s how I started at Warrington a few years ago.

I only lasted 3 days, but not because of the work, just a conflict.

I work to pay for things I do outside work, when I started I told them I had a few concerts booked 1 of which was on the Thursday coming up and do I need to book the day(s) off or is there a shift that’ll get me back early enough, they said they’d sort a shift out for me, did Tues, Wed reminded them of the concert Thu, on the Thu I got my unit, was sent round for my trailer that wasn’t ready, phoned them and they said don’t worry about it. Got my notes and phoned them again to say that it wouldn’t be possible in the time I had, told to give it a go and keep them updated.
Set off, delayed at 1st store (was late so another truck was delivering), delayed at 2nd store, rang them to let them know that I wouldn’t be able to get the last store off due to the concert, they said they’d arrange something at 3rd store, so headed off upto 3rd store, tipped there, nothing, so rang up, they told me I’d just have to crack on, so I took the load back to the depot and quit.

Wayne, you are a legend.

So £12.25 per hour isn’t that like better than what the big 4 pay, aren’t they on £10 per hour odd direct, I dunno?

I know it’s link logistics that run it.

Thanks Wayne, I’m tempted but the daily commute would see me disliking the job, 2 - 3 nights out a week would justify this distance though for other jobs.

Will give it some thought as I would be the best candidate they had ever met (well thats what i tell myself at all interviews) :wink:

Did you make the gig?

Fair play to you, start as you mean to go on! You offered to book they day off, they said they’d get you finished in time, sound like tossers to me.

As a base hourly rate, yes, probably :slight_smile:

FARMFOODS SOLIHULL (LINK LOGISTICS ) :open_mouth: :open_mouth: :open_mouth: NOOOOOOO !
enter if you must but make sure your back is up to the job , i did 10months there the £12.25 is because no-one stays in my first week and a half i seen 3 transport managers come and go as for drivers i didn’t know a name for 2 months because the kept leaving
they buy shops no-one else wants and you have to try and get your truck in there , the place is a joke and so are the shops .
but despite what anyone puts on here give it a go but google map the shops ,ive been to shops that even a car would struggle to get in.

Sounds a bit like Kwik Save used to be, cracking job, wait for customers to finish shopping and move their cars so you can get in, go and make tea, watch the ladies come and go, kerching another £12 clocked up, once tipped you can’t get out?, make tea watch the ladies come and go, kerching another £12, great stuff…this is the life.

Hopefully there’s pay enhancement for bank hols, early start or dark money etc, but even if not its not a bad number, paid exercise too shifting cages and pallets.

Tight stores sharpen up your driving a bit, and some of us could do with it.

Thats the kinda job I like, can’t beat a bit of cage and pallet hurling to build you up… then a wee cup o’tea and a chat to the ladies :stuck_out_tongue: At a Co-op store I delivered to once, the ■■■■ wee thing that took the order was looking to skive, we stood out the back chatting and laughing away for ages… then I had to roll, next store was a old wicked witch hahahaha

It’s the dragging pallets over gravel car parks pulling and pushing pallets on and off and of course the usual office politics
As for the money that’s not good when you consider you have to work weekends especially when you consider the likes of ups pay around £18 per hour. … If they can do it why can’t others come somewhere near

Last time I went in there , there was a fridge and freezer in staff canteen full of food and drinks for drivers to help themselves to free, tea and coffee also free.

Last time I was in there they added weekend working to the contract but said you would never have to work it. …
I said then pay double time after all you will never have to pay it. … Oh and the free pop you can’t take out the canteen so if you take your own you was always getting accused of taking theirs seen a lot of conflict over this

I can only vouch for the one, but no and no!

Ive seen these blokes tipping at my local farmfoods,from what i see they deserve every penny,and some more. : :cry:

Don’t get me wrong if you are young fit and don’t mind hard work and want to clock up some hours/money then go for it also as I remember you get 15% discount from there stores
If all of this is you then go for it

Yes mate, got home around 4pm, the job I still had on was for Washington sort of area - tyne - and I came back from Wakefield.
As I said, I wouldn’t have made it if I did the last delivery.

Please, do tell!!! I keep applying to my local FF depot for a job, They are close to home and pay really well, job I have now is far away, pay is ok but the job is easy peasy and the guys I work with are all good. More info I can get the better :smiley:

Don’t know if things have changed since I was there around 11 years ago but drivers used to have say 3/4 shops on and at each shop had to take off all the dry goods to get at the frozen then put what was needed back on plus collect cardboard and returns so as most shops had no loading bay it was on and of with the tail lift and if the ground was poor or on a hill things could get difficult
No doubt things have changed in 11 years so does anyone have any up to date knowledge
