I am after your thoughts on the best route from Fareham up to Scarborough, at the moment I have two routes in mind. The journey will start from Fareham at about 1430 on Thursday and I need to be in Scarborough by 0800 on Friday after having had a 9 or 11 break (preferably an 11 hour break)
Route one
M27- M3-A34-M40-A43-M1 (break for 45 somewhere along here) - A1M-A64 then stay on A64 to Scarborough
Route 2
M27-M3-M25 then as above from M1 onwards
Which do you reckon would be the easiest and quickest, taking into account bank holiday weekend traffic but hopefully this won’t be too bad on Thursday afternoon but might get busy in the evening
Or do you know of a better route that I can use?
I will be up there for three days doing promotional work again and would like somewhere decent/safe to park up on the night but preferably not a truck stop as fridge will be running all night and I don’t want to keep everyone awake
M27, A3M, A3, M25(JCT 21A), A1 probably have a break at Colsterworth or near there.
A1 to Newark A46, A15, M180, A15, over the bridge A63 then A165.
Should be easy to do in a 9 hour drive but because your leaving so late in the day and you need to be there so early its difficult to pick somewhere to park.
If it was me I would go all the way up there and park somewhere in or near Scarborough but all that driving and the rest you need makes it difficult.
That’s what google maps say, and I’d agree, although I might be tempted to run up the A1 to the A64, but only because it’s an easier road.
As has been said avoid the M25 when ever possible

Any advice and tips appreciated
There are no truckstops around Scarborough. You’re pretty much OK parking on Eastfield Ind Est near Pindars and there’s a McDonalds/Morrisons supermarket at one end of the Ind Est, a pub at the other and a mile walk up the road gets you to a chippie.

We used to park up in the coach park occassionally, the gates were locked untill 6am though, it’s signed on the way into the town
definately stick with route one, but you’re pushing it to leave at 1430 and delivering at 0800,
i’d park on the doorstep and have my 9 off, you can always… no i’ll stop there before i get the whiter than white brigade on me

Should be around 8hrs drive + breaks, so you’ll def be struggling for an 11hr break, and as for crossing the bridge… who’s paying■■? last i knew it was nearly £19 e/w for an artic & it wouldn’t be coming out of my pocket!
If you want the scenic route then go M1, M18, M62 to Howden and follow the road to Market Weighton - Driffield, then depending how brave you’re feeling either take the route from Bridlington up to Scarborough, or brake out the parachute and try Staxton Hill!
It’ll take you the thick end of TWO HOURS to get from the Humber Bridge to Scarborough because traffic on either choice of routes is horrific until you clear Hull or Beverley.
Also expect to be doing 40MPH on the single carriageway section as we have the Defence Driving School filling up the roads in the area with their 1000’s of learner wagons.

Dont all employers pay for the bridge then?.
Are you saying some drivers pay for it themselves?.
I would make a driver pay for it, if he used it en route from Fareham to Scarboro, not only an unnecesary expense, but not even the quickest or shortest route
just been told have to be up there monday as welll and drive back tuesday, but got to be at normal work tuesday for the day so cant manage it, dont want to take the pee and the boss say your not having weds and thurs off do i?
