FAO Any agency's that look on here

All this constant waffle about agency this that and the other, how much money there is to be earnt for duin nowt etc, make the most of next week because the week after you will all be kicking pebbles wondering why the phone is quiet, watch this space

Don’t struggle with the (snow) shovel … Just Thomas Cook it!
The agency drivers are off to lay on the beach spending the money they’re earned during the Xmas busy period, I’m guessing you’ll be tootling off to work in the cold Uk winter

holy ■■■■ pierre hope my lot arent doing that until at least feb as they have shifts booked

oh no wait it goes dead and they all need to sign on i forgot

Just seems to me that they use free advertising thru the job center and the likes to dangle the carrot of a good job to get you talking about the crap ones.

Absolutely. Every job by agencys that I see advertised never materialises. I called about one last week. Job posting was less than an hour old. Apparently they had filled the 4 driver slots for it. In less than an hour? Yeah right! But within 15 seconds I was being told they had other work if I was interested. Not paying the ÂŁ12 p/h the other job was though!
Another thing that gets my goat is agencys telling you “Oh we are desperate for class 1 drivers. As many shifts as you want. We can have you out 5 or 6 days a week if you want”. Then when you sign up with them the phone never rings. I joined one last Wednesday saying just such a thing. I have not heard from them since. I did not tell them I had work from my other agency to see what would happen,so as far as they know I am available. So where are all the shifts they have? If you just want drivers on your books for back up,at least be honest about it

what i dont get is when people tar every agency with the same brush saying we are all robbing when as with drivers you get good and bad

It’s human nature I’m afraid, that and the fact that most people who have worked for more than one agency will most likely have experienced the rubbish so many agency people come out with.

When there are so many bad agencies around it’s easy to forget that agency bods are as human as the rest of us, and sometimes make genuine mistakes like the rest of us.

true i guess. its a shame though as i know a few who do try to be honest (in defense all are ex drivers) as they have been on end of said lies.

Im actually struggling to get time off for Xmas as theyre wanting me to work every shift possible until further notice

It used to traditionally go dead soon after the 20th Jan when Joe publics (post Xmas) credit card bills came through the letter box, and there was a nationwide sharp intake of breath when they realised how much they’d actually spent on Xmas. But in recent year those bills come at different times of the month, maybe they’re spreading the debt load & carrying on shopping  But its making the guessing of when the “dead season” starts much harder.
I haven`t needed to consider “signing on” for several years, and have only found myself idle for 1-3 weeks in the past (but less so in recent years), which is ideal for me to hop on a flight and catch some sun

I also find honesty has an effect on supply and demand. Honest agents who don’t tend to mess you about pay less as they have a good supply of drivers. The wide boys (and false girls who like to call you babe) pay more because they have to as they go through drivers quick as the lies unravel.

That said you have to play the game a bit, I turn something down regular to show i cant be taken advantage of. Gets me an early call with runs for next day so i get to choose. Also try to help when they are desperate, gets a favour in the bank.
