Famous people list

Not related to anyone famous but when I was a kid my big sister told me that Michael Aspels real surname was Asprin but as he worked for the BBC they weren’t allowed to advertise!

Got into loads of fights at school as I vigorously defended my “fact”

I read that in Ewan McGregors voice! Maybe I’m having a Trainspotting moment?

We had this conversation at work recently and a couple of blokes mentioned minor brushes with passing non entities, never was’s and has beens until Kev says, “You know Robert Lindsay” (Wolfie in Citizen Smith for those of a certain age) “Yes” says I, "I shagged his sister " says Kev…big grin at the memory followed.

NIgel Mansell gave me a dirty look 15 years ago when I was delivering to his golf course…
Was the dirtiest of looks too. How dare I drive a freezer wagon into his carpark to deliver to his outrageously expensive country club :unamused:

Carl Froch (Boxer). Delivered to his house a few times, in Notts.
Absolutely smashing bloke !

I used to drink in the same pub as the late Duke D’mond in Leighton Buzzard, he used to ride a Trike & he asked me once if his Missus could have a go on the back of my Motorbike.
She had the Biggest Pair of Norks on this Planet & I made sure that I accelerated & Braked a lot so she had to hang on to me like a ■■■■■■ Riding a Randy Stallion.
Nice.

Richard Wilson of Victor Meldrew fame when I was delivering to a coffin manufacturer where he was making a TV documentary.

What really ■■■■■■ him off is when people keep saying " I don’t belieeeeve It ", nice bloke though.

I delivered a few bits & pieces on that job.

Took one of our counter staff with me once who was desperate to meet him, Carl was almost always on site & always meeted & greeted you on arrival.

As he was trundling up towards us, I loudly whispered to the office bod “I reckon I could take him”. Carl then proceeded to (pretend) punch me so hard & fast that I thought I was surrounded

Last week in a Newcastle car park I was behind a guy getting his ticket, when he turned around it was Peter Beardsley. I walked in town and went into a holland & Barrett, who’s coming out? Peter Beardsley! After a bit of shopping I went for some cash at an ATM, stood behind a guy, when he turned it was, yes Peter Beardsley! He looked like he thought I was a stalker so I waited until he went off one way & I went the other.

Interveiwed George Hamilton IV and Kathy Chiavola when I
was doing a country music show on hospital radio
Anker Radio 1386 am
serving the George Eliot hospital Nuneaton

Which pub was that then, I used to live next door but one to the Star in Heath Road in the 90’s, he used to get in there, when I was a nipper, mum used to work at the old doctors surgery in Bridge St. The Barron Kniights used to practice in an old barn at the back, I used to go and watch them, It would have been at the bottom of the West St, in between where Waitrose is now and the turning into town.

I used to frequent the Black Lion (see note below) for about 3 years (it was my second home) in the late 70’s. I didn’t really know him, he just used to pop in now & again.

I used to use the surgery in Bridge St, Dr O’donovan (my mate used to fancy her. Lol)

Rip Duke.

Note- & The Tavern (now the Top Bell, I believe) The Bottom Bell (before it turned Gay) The Roebuck (is it still there ?)The Red Lion, the Crown, The Wheatsheaf, The Ship, The White Lion, The Railway, The Globe etc, etc, etc.

I must have bumped into you in the Market Tavern then, used to knock about with Big Fred, John Nicka, Fred Hawkins, Jiffy, Porky, Black Andy etc etc, had a T150 trident at the time, used all the others at various times along with all the rest, especially the Eagle as I worked for Dawson’s at the time. The Wheatie became my second home, spent far too much time and money in there, Happy Days. My ex missus (from Linslade) used to go to school with Peanut Langfords sister. I think the Roebuck is closed now, didn’t an ex driver have it for a while, Andy McAdam perhaps■■?
Our Doctor was Dr James and then Dr Owen until he retired, I heard that Dr Owen was trampled to death by a herd of cows when he was out walking his dog, how sad, R.I.P.
