Famous Devon landmark gone

Just been reading on the Devon live website the Bedford / AWD truck that’s been parked on a bridge across the A30 for more than 30 years has dissapeared , sure it was there last week when I came up there , anyone know the story of why it was there in the first place ?

Didn’t it advertise meat or something?

It can’t be that famous because I’ve never heard of it

A bit like that ugly lump of rusty scrap on the A1 near Gateshead then.

Friends of ours who used to have a much visited house here but lived in Sunderland, took issue with my description because they said the sight of it meant that they were nearly home, but I reckon if they saw that on the way from here to Sunderland they had missed their turning.

Hope you aren’t talking about the Angel Spardo

Guilty as charged m’lud, the only thing I can say in its favour is that it gave some work to my old company, Econofreight, who dragged some of the bits there. :joy:

Is the channel tunnel big machine still on the mountain going to the train
Years since I was down that way

Always remember seeing that upon the bridge. Is the truck in Somerset still there just past the North bound Taunton Junction i think an old Diamond T break down truck with the tree growing through it. On the left just before the bridge.
