Hi
I failed my hgv class 2 practical test in 2011, I want to apply again.
Do I have to apply for provisional licence again or just medical need to be done?
Also do i have to do theory again?
what exactly I need to do? Please advise.

Do you have DCPC ?
as for the rest no to licence or medical
■■■■ theroy again as theory has a shelf life
Theory pass only lasts for 2 years so that needs to be taken again
Do you have a pre 1997 car licence
If YES then you have the option of doing, for commercial LGV driving, either mods 2 + 4 TESTS or 35 hours of ATTENDANCE training to get your first 5 year DQC
If NO then you must do 2 + 4 TESTS to get first 5 year DQC
Mods 1a theory + 1b 1HPT + 2 CPC theory can all be booked and done at the theory test centre on the same day - even if they are well split up on the day they usually let you do one after the other
Forms D2 & D4 will not need doing again … D4 medical might if you have reached age 45 - worth checking the provisional section of your licence online = gov.uk/view-driving-licence
You also have the benefit of being able to use auto now rather than manual. In your situation I would recommend going to at least 3 schools for trial drives. Then you’ll get a good feel of where you want to be/where you want to spend your hard earned.
The only exception to visiting the trainer is to book on rock solid recommendation.
If you have a pre 97 licence you will be able to gain cpc hours from your practical training so long as your chosen provider has this facility - some do, many don’t.
Let me know if I can do anything to help, Pete

Thanks peter for your advice, I passed my driving license in 2010, but in 2011- I failed hgv practical and I haven’t done cpc. I am 37 yrs old.
I will contact local birmingham, walsall or Wolverhampton training instructors.
Can you please advise that do I need medical again or just pass theory again?
What documents I need to send dvsa?
Thanks

Nothing to send to DVLA.
Before you book practical training you will need to pass multiple choice theory and hazard perception. Assuming you need driver cpc, it’s a plan to pass Mod 2 (case studies) at the same time.
You will then need practical training and test + Mod 4 (practical walk round demonstration) training and test.
If you’re looking round, maybe consider us? We have our own test centre on site together with our own Mod 4 examiner - so no long waits for a test.
Some cracking deals at the moment - call 01623 555661 for details. Free accommodation if more than 70 miles from NG17 3FW.
Plenty of recommendations on the forum; you wont have to look far for them.
