Extra duty incentive=hours Q

Our place has introduced an incentive till end of oct as a trial to work an extra 6th shift.

I work sat-wed with the thurs being an extra.

Last 3weeks I’ve only worked the 5days so sat-wed, these next 2 weeks coming can I do the Thursdays, 16th and 23rd? Then carry on normal 5 days.

I think I can but do I need to pay the 16th back before I can do the 23rd? Or treat em as separate and pay em back as-and-when the end of the 3rd week following the week in Question for each.

You don’t say what hours you work but the only way you can work both Thursdays is if you can still get a 45 hour weekly rest period in between the end of the shift on Thursday and the start of the shift on Saturday, if you cannot do that then you can work the 16th or the 23rd but not both.

You cannot legally have only reduced weekly rest periods in two consecutive weeks.

If you work the 16th you will need to have the compensation for the reduced weekly rest period paid back by midnight 9th November.

If you work the 23rd you will need to have the compensation for the reduced weekly rest period paid back by midnight 16th November.
