Explore transport

Does anyone on here work for them , I’m just after how there 4/4 off works , it’s stating in advert mon- fri , tues- sat , sun - thurs , I’m assuming it’s a mistake so do they do 4/4 off , or is it the normal 5 days / 4 nights out
It’s stating £12.50 for I think 18 months , then £13 , 3 yrs then £13.50 ph , it seems a tall order to get to £49 k that’s advertised , or is there enhancements on top of £12.50
Nb I’ve done job so not bothered about that side of job , ta

Fill your boots doze at those rates you’ll have 2apartments in Benidorm in no time at all

Even the Green Group pay more, iirc £13 M-F or £15 4/4 tramping

That’s not four on four off, that’s five on and two off and providing weekend cover unless you’re “lucky” enough to get Monday to Friday

Arnt green group at Rotherham ? Job I’m on about is my old yard at Newark ( or it says Newark so I assume it is ),

If you have a look at the job on the explore website ( Newark ) it say
Mon-fri, 4on / 4 off , tues - sat , sun - thurs , that’s why I was asking the question , unless it means there’s 4/4 off & 5 on 2 off
Have a look at there website moaster , Newark jobs , you’ll see what I mean
I’ve applied but says txt Hgv to phone number , seems strange way to apply

I have the popcorn, who’s bringing the drinks. Grab a chair and get comfortable… :grimacing:

Explore transport are advertising jobs at Newark , I’ve applied for one , I’m not sure why you would need popcorn , if it’s the 12 .50 ph , then I’ve already said beggars can’t be choosers & £12.50 x 40/50 hrs has got to be better than £77 pw , it’s my old yard at Newark I think , I miss it , 20 mins home at end of week
I’m exploring ( sorry for the pun ) all avenues , anything employed has got to be better than agency , have a happy day

The Great Dozy Bakeoff show hass just started.

Worksop , Erith , wincham , Dagenham though I think that’s moved , we were day hired to explore from stobarts so done the job , it’s the old Newark yard that’s draws me to the job , 20 mins home , not sure if applied properly though , as it says txt hgv to tel no ——, strange way to apply for a job

Is the yard not Worksop

Johny5alive:

No it’s Newark ,I know the yard at Worksop , that’s where they do the manufacturing , Newark so I understand is just parking for loaded tris , they did park loaded tris at walkers yard at Blyth, William stobart owns Newark so I’m led to believe so there’s ws / explore & there was buffaload in there
There is also adverts for jobs at Worksop, but Newark is better for me living at Grantham
,

here’s the job

Walk or preferably run away. Granted they do advertise four on, four off, but they also say that £49k a year working two weekends out of three! ■■■■ that for a game of soldiers.

I didn’t see the 2 weekends in three moaster , explains probably how you turn £12.50 into 49 k pa

Maxing your hours 4on-4off, you looking at £34,200 a year, plus night out money.

Flat work. Strapping ■■■■ in the rain. Building sites.

No, thanks.

Without knowing your circumstances surely you can’t survive on only working half the year on £12.50 hr, with 4o4o you need a higher rate to make up for your missed days work, or you’ll end up begging and hoping for extra shifts every week, which kinda defeats the object of the shift pattern

You also need to make sure their is a minimum guaranteed hours, because when your in on a weekend or bank hol certainly for me the runs are occasionally shorter as theirs usually no reloading, Green Group was mentioned who I ran for out of Manchester but there was no guaranteed hrs so you would sometimes run 6/7 hours on a weekend and then that’s you done.

For your convenience my rate is £15 which seems standard north west, with a guaranteed 12hrs without extra shifts that’s around 32k, and your giving up alot of weekends and bank hols for that.

Thankyou Alf , I get what you saying but any wage would be a improvement on the £0 pa I’m getting at the moment , last year other than the 2 weeks before Xmas where I tramped as cover I did mon - wed , apx 45 hrs , so taking into account the £12.50 is substantially less than the hourly rate I was on I would think wages would be less ( though you do have to take into account this is employed , I was agency ) , and as moaster pointed out they talk of 2 out 3 overtime shifts you have to work , though that might not apply to 4/4 off
Work / wages have dropped off a cliff in my area upto 6 months apx ago , I’m not convinced now you would average 15 ph round her , seeing loads round the £12/£13 ph ,the pull to me is I think it’s my old yard , good memories , we shall see , thanks for the advice
