Exiting the motorway after overtaking

I’ve noticed a growing trend of trucks exiting the motorway soon after overtaking, rather than planning ahead and getting in the left lane sooner, the most recent one pulled along side of me on the S/B M5 close to strensham, in fact we where less than half a mile away from the services along side of me then he started indicating to pull in way before he was past, so by the time we reached the countdown markers he swung across my front and shot into the service slip road. This has happened several times over recent weeks, anyone else noticed this happen.

Have it happen quite often at the A50 and A453 junctions where they join with the M1 southbound. They are all come flying down the ramp and force you into lane 2, then sit alongside you with their indicator on wanting you to move into lane 3 as they want to go down the M1. Unlucky for them as I’m going down the 42 and there are 2 lanes to use for the 42  . Many a time I’ve begun sending them down the 42 and then at the last second they slam on and swerve across the chevrons behind me whilst giving it large with the full beam and horn    .

The M42 at the A5 junction often delivers as you’ll get some overly ambitious UPS or FedEx driver attempt an overtake a few miles before the junction but not have the legs to make it  . Even saw it once with a UPS overtaking a FedEx who put his left indicator on whilst alongside, presumably thinking it was all good as the FedEx would be going into Kingsbury or Atherstone. Trouble was, he wasn’t! He’d come out of Lount and was going into Birmingham so stayed on the 42! UPS driver ended up going to Birmingham too! :grimacing:

Had a few bone heads my self recently
This one got the n.s indicater on whilst still along side then he came in quick n too close ,the camera doesn’t show it as close as it was ,when questioned his reply was he used the reversing camera no problemski .

Thats how they drive cars, badly, no one bothers about driving lorries as lorries should be driven any more, hence car driving practices increasing in lorries.

Your right about the increase in incidences as I seem to be finding it happening 5-6 times a week, I was used to the car drivers doing it but now it’s the trucks doing it, maybe it’s the regular routes I’m doing but there’s certain off ramps that it’s happening at, Strensham, M50 etc

I am sure this is just lack of forward planning or poor knowledge of the road they are on, if I can see that a vehicle in lane 2 alongside me has decided at the last minute that he needs to leave the motorway (Or any A road with exits) I will try and accommodate him if it is safe to do so.
However I am now a car driver having retired 15 years ago…
A few months ago coming down the M1 I had to stop at the Watford gap services (Not by choice, wifey needed a pee) and about a mile before the exit slip I made sure that I was in the nearside lane and joined the 56mph elephant race, when I was around 50m from the exit a truck alongside me decided he wanted to come off there too and started to flash left, not only that he was hooting at me expecting me to get out of his way! I dropped into the slip road and he tried to overtake me in lane 1, still indicating he started to move over to the left into the slip road and I had to hit the brakes to let him in, at the same time the truck behind me also hit his brakes and almost went up my arse end.
He then came over to me in the car park and tried to say the incident was my fault! He didn’t like it when my son in the back seat produced his warrant card!!

I always keep left at the one mile marker or even two miles. So easy,

What!
And maybe add as many as ten seconds to your trip time? And miss the chance to show how superior your vehicle’s speed limiter is to another one?
Looser!

Double manned…

Up to Scotland when Hi-Way were still trading.

The first clue that my co-driver was gonna be hopeless was his Eddie Stobart shoulder bag. The second that he’d been sacked from them for dropping one on it’s knees. We agreed Southwaite would be a good place to stop on the way up for a short break. As we got to about 500 yards from Southwaite, he starts to overtake another lorry. At 300 yards we’re just over halfway down the aforementioned lorry. This is the point he signals left and then goes absolutely beserk at the guy in lane one who was ‘deliberately holding him out’. Cue almighty great big nose dive, ABS kicking in and he just makes it over the chevrons with clouds of dust and a discarded mudflap or two sent flying.

They walk among us.

I refused to drive with him ever again on return to the yard.

Same old story though innit…dicks who have managed to blag a truck licence by passing a test, who will never be a driver as long as they have that proverbial hole, who go on to drive their truck as they would,.(and do, :unamused: ).a car.
I ■■■■ hate people cutting in on me when being overtook it brings out the worst side of my character…, if I get the sense that my are going to, to get off at the next junction cos they’re in too much of a ■■■■ hurry to plan it, I just back off and let them get to ■■■■ well away from me.
Way I see it is if keep them out for the hell of it, as some have admitted to :unamused: it just makes me as unprofessional and generally as crap as them, and I ain’t some kind of traffic monitoring marshall either.

Car drivers who happen to hold a HGV licence. Simple as that.

Edit to add; RR above has alluded to the same thing. (Using a lot more words than me……. as usual  )

Sorry mate, the wife even says I tend to ‘go off on one’ too much about things that concern me.

I was having a bit of banter with a friend…you should get some of your own., theres a whole world out there you know away from this forum. :bulb:

And I dare say you actually would mate :open_mouth: …, judging by how sooo ■■■■ serious you take a forum and how you over react when complete strangers have differing opinions to you.

Me?.
Well unlike you I have REAL friends and REAL enemies,in REAL life. :bulb: … You ain’t even a blip on my radar when it comes to what matters to me, you’re just a (somewhat irritating) little bloke on a forum…
