No not me, if it was crap when i left i don’t see how it would be any better going back. If the new job turned out to be crap as well then i’d be looking for another one. I’m certainly nobody spacial but once i’ve left a job then i’ve left and no going back.
And yes, i would cut off my nose to spite my face

Can’t fault you for that. I know a bloke though that did jack in his job, lasted four days and phoned his old boss and went back on the Monday!
The problem with leaving a job on anything but decent terms is that you don’t know which transport manager knows which other.
Everything may be in writing these days, but that doesn’t mean a transport manager of a cream job you really want won’t happen make a call to an old mate who just happens to be the transport manager of the job you’re now leaving (lots of them know each other), nothing in writing, nothing on record, a mention of a mans name a TM presses a few buttons on his personell file and two minutes later a yes or no seals your job fate…no one is going to tell me this doesn’t happen.
I think that New Lad is being very creative
don’t burn any bridges as you may need them in the future.
Tell them, in a friendly way, that you will be reporting on your interview to potentially 1000 drivers on TNUK
Employment packages are important and strengthen esprit de corps
encouraging union membership makes employee/management negotiations more streamlined
The coffee and vending machines are very, very important
A valuable addition to the staff room is a boot polishing machine!
If it’s like the Tesco one, you don’t have answer the questions only with a “no comment”, that apparently speaks volumes to HR as it DOES go there
The few questions I did answer I didn’t hold back, especially about the management and they we were treated…
I’ve never bothered with the don’t burn bridges malarky, ive left for a reason & that reason is unlikely to change. My mantra being “never go back”. On the odd occasion I’ve been asked I’ve told them why, you don’t have to resort to base language or be rude, just told them how I felt & why I think I’d be better off in the new job.
Imo Turners are going about this arse about face Newlad. You’ve been there for a while now, you haven’t killed anybody or written any trucks off so they should be doing their level best to retain your services. An exit interview on your last day is NOT the way to do this, I reckon the interview should’ve taken place the day after you’d handed your notice in.
That way it gives them a chance to find some common ground and perhaps address the reasons you want to leave and maybe persuade you to stay before your mindset is fully comitted to you leaving.
Having said that however I have little doubt that the middle management at Turners like those at my place and countless others are largely incompetant with very little man management skills and they probably spend most of their working days avoiding making decisions in case they make the wrong one.

Pretty accurate tbf, there have been a few write offs while I’ve been there and the way things are looking this will only get worse.
I agree the exit interview should have been done sooner!
in all honesty ‘yes’ you are wasting your time.
when i left my last company i gave a whole list of issues and things that made me leave (i was on more than i am now and pretty much had a job as long as i wanted it), my area manager was a complete knob so i explained why i was leaving. nothing was done or acknowledged so i emailed the company owner! i got a response of yes we will look into this and again nothign was done.
my thinking was the same as yours to make it better for the people i left behind who were basically decent.
good luck is all i can say but dont hold your breath!
You could suggest the things you mention, if they bother it,s not your problem bud, you would mad going back to them, your stepping into dead man shoes in your new job, just learn your new job well pay attention to every detail and you will be fine mate. Your going on for one of the uk,s best employers, have confidence, dunno about New lad you should call yourself Lucky Lad,
FFS Man UP !!! , tell em your leaving " Cos you have got a better job too go to and go and tell em to ■■■■ off with their exit interview " , its drivers of your ilk who give them ammunition to keep us under , if you and others weren’t so submissive we would all be treated with far more respect and decent pay , " Exit Interview " sheesh what next ■■?.

PLus One man up make a desision
I worked with a bloke who went for an exit interview and the exit interviewers didn’t even know what role he was employed in, started thanking him for his time doin such and such. He said he couldn’t be bothered to mention it, handed in his company stuff and left .

I think you may have miss understood my point. There is NO way I’m going back under my own free will and the decision was made many moons ago, all i wanted to do is try and do something pro active for my friends (yes they actually are my friends) who are left behind there.

Is has been known for some of these exit interviews to end up with the driver not leaving after being offered more money with a disclosure agreement to sign not allowing you to tell anybody else.!
This ^, twice in the last 4 years at the employer I am still with.
