Exceeding 4.5 hrs

I messed up a bit today… I had a drop at a retail park and planned to take my 45 minutes parked up in a corner of the service area as I normally do, but low and behold when I got there some containers had been dropped where I normally park leaving me no where to park up without being in the way.

Was on 4.25hrs at the time, and by the time I had left the retail park and searched frantically for somewhere to park and ending up 15 miles down the road I was on 5 hrs.

Did a print out at the end of the day and put an explanation on the back.

Should I stumble into VOSA in the next 28 days will that incur a fine? Never gone over my hours before.

Shouldn’t do as it isn’t as if you make a habit of it. One off situation most likely a bolloc… err, I mean, advice on managing your hours. Unforeseen situation and you used the first available parking place and wrote an explanation, and it is a situation allowed for under the regs.
