Ever picked your plate up and moved away?

As Dover Calais and Dover Dunkerque is not suitable for using the ferry option, leave well alone!

i do.
and “pedantic”, that’s the word i was looking for. it would have saved a whole load of typing.

I am going to print that off and post it all over the ferry and the [zb] stinking [zb] hole of the train !!! In several different languages !!

You have too much time on your hands. :unamused:

Your right I do …13 days a month I work and never a monday … All for 40k a year so yeah I do ave time thank you !!

Remember Jim you are not just telling all your wages but the other 11 drivers on your outfit who may wish to keep those little details quite. Say hi to Damien for me.
By the way your original thread gives me another reason to stay away from a return Euro work!

I am also getting really tired of these same drivers when you try and explain to them what the ferry setting is for. The normal answer is
" that’s not what the French say"
Or

“I have been stopped by VOSA ad they never said anything”

why talk to them. i travel on ferries quite often, and don’t get any bother.
you must say something to someone to prompt a reaction.

your probably right Phil …

Just sit there rocking back and forth humming people tend to give you a swerve then.

I’m making a bit of a video now and I did a bit about ferry thing last night. Funnily enough about how you only use it if splitting rest. Was on an 18 hour crossing so was pointing out its not nesesscary unless you are actually interrupting a rest to get on.

i dont normally start up a conversation with anyone, but if someone starts talking to me,im happy to chat for a while.

I find that if I start talking about being fined by the French for not using the Ferry Mode, they’ll soon leave, although I thought the 2 drivers who sat next to me last week on the Spirit of France were never going. :frowning:

I was about to tell them about the time I missed “That infamous ferry” because I’d been called up by the SAS reserve on my was through Germany. but they left just in time.

nice one

there is a ferry mode, it even has a picture of a ferry. but if people want to try to look smart regarding out of scope driving, then why do they refer to subsistence living allowance as “overnight money”?

when people hear someone talking about something, but not refering to it in the same way that they do, does it make them smarter than the other person.
there are many names for a barm cake/bap/roll/cob etc.
but do we make an issue of it, and walk away like a ■■■?
no.

+1

I have used that same story about the time I was in a huge traffic jam in Brussels. It was March 1987 I think and the queue stretched as far as the Townsend Thoreson berth in Zeebrugge. No wonder the bloody thing sank.

jessicas dad:
nope no ferry mode,

all the trucks ive been in have poa, rest and other work… definitely no ferry mode.

Just find “Out of Scope”
You will then understand

Is there an airplane mode ? cos i once had to wait on an airfield for goods that was on a plane, but it was delayed by 24 hrs.
I did scour the tacho, but couldnt find one.

If you read the thread, you will understand what “mode” means.

Bed Symbol. Crossed Hammers Symbol and Boxhead Symbol. They do not even have a Steering Wheel Symbol anymore

There is a steering wheel symbol on digi just can’t be selected manually.

How long after telling it, do some drivers actually get it?

It may be pedantic but calling it a mode when it isn’t is what causes people to think it must be used on every ferry.

Same with rest and break, people mix them up and start going on about being free to dispose of their time on a break and saying it is illegal to take a break in certain situations when it isn’t.

Before you know it people are using any old terms and claiming the regulations are complicated.

I done it today …
I was on board the P&O new flag ship boat " Spirit of France " nice boat it’s exactly the same as the " spirit of Britain"
Any way I sat down to have my fish and chips and was joined by my double man partner …And another English driver this is where it all started …
ED “” alright mate"
Me " not bad Ta "
ED " got pulled today by the French "
Me " really "
Ed " yeah, he done me € 590 "
Me ( intake of breath) what for mate, did you go for his gun?"
(My mate then spat out his coke he was drinking)
ED " no … It was for not putting the tacho to ferry mode"
Me " you were done pal, no such thing as ferry mode"
ED " [zb] is mate! Are you running on digi? It’s in the menu , you MUST put in every time your on a ferry!! "
Me " even the woolwich ferry…"
ED … " errrr … "
With that I said " perhaps they should do a *Janet and John version of the regs mate then you may just may understand them !!"
With that I picked my plate up and moved elsewhere to stare at the " tray drop"
I have no idea of his reaction as I didn’t look back. Why are there so many [zb] knob heads on this job that have to force there bull crap. It drives me mad .

  • janet and John quip stolen from coffeeholic in another thread…

Good lad, his face would have been well funny
Never done it myself but I did challenge a driver in J29.
He was speeling off some bollox story to his mate but every other word was an f or c word. This normally wouldn’t bother me, but he was loud, everyone in there could hear him wether they wanted to or not. For whatever reason I got ■■■■■■ off with him, stood up and said “Do you need to be swearing like that sweetheart? Shut up or get out”. Then sat back down. He shut up, and left about 5 mins later.
As the other drivers left one by one, at least 8 of them said thanks, as did the ladies behind the counter, which felt good
