I know this is asked very frequently…
And with the way work may have slowed down its probably Non-existent.
I’m currently in the coventry area and I’m interested to have a go over the water.
Any body know of any firms near who may be looking?
Check the previous suggestions, and bear in mind youll likely be out for a week or two at a time, so it probably wont matter as much if the depot is quite a distance away from home.
I`ve known drivers travel hours for the job they want. Far from ideal, but it is do-able.
Good luck.

Thank you for the reply.
Yeh I have noticed that and no I’m willing to branch out abit as it won’t be a daily commute etc.
My first Euro tramping job was with Murfitts, Peterborough (Whittlesey to be precise). I live near Kirkcaldy, Fife.
Although I was on the road for 3 - 6 weeks at a time, with a day at home for each week away.

This^^^
I’m near Chester… my furthest UK commute was Ramsgate, but then I got a job in Camberley which is nearer to home.
I also worked out of Turin for just over a year, but fortunately, I didn’t need to do that commute very often.
I`ve known of Oswestry and Teesside drivers working out of the South Coast.
Depends how you look at it. If based near home, they would drive a truck home from the boat, and be under tacho rules, maybe an extra night out. As it is they dump the truck near the ferry, and directly drive home in a car. It can work well.
Other drivers may be able to out base trucks. Taking them home if they live away from base may make early Mon morning drops easy!

That’s exactly what I did when I worked out of Turin.
There was an ‘understanding’ that, if I did UK for them, I’d get a load to the NW and have 2-3 days off.
Most of my time on that firm was spent tramping Italy-Spain-France-Germany-Austria-Yugo and some occasional Norway/Sweden.
I’ve never been one for France/Spain cos trying to speak their language is too much travux ( ) for me, I preferred Italy and anywhere that speaks German + Norway/Sweden.

Diesel Dave, just wondering if you have ever done any Euro ADR work. Does it even exist?

S&K have advertised endlessly. I rang them out of interest, and they didn’t actually have any vacancies. ( Maybe they didn’t like my accent)

Oh wow, that sounds like specialist work. How is it packaged up?

Hi Fozzer,
Yes, I’ve done Euro ADR work, but it was all in the 80s and the first couple of years of the 90s.
Some jobs I remember…
Perfumes (Class 3) to Paris, Vienna and Rome
Various Class 3 and Class 9 in groupage loads
Shotgun cartridges (1.4 S) were a regular summertime backload from Italy
Various refrigerated organic peroxides (Class 5.2) as a backload from the Netherlands
One of my consultancy customers is heading out to France and Spain this week with some very specialised petrol (Class 3) as an odd job, but his main work is lithium batteries (Class 9) to/from Austria and Germany.
Another of my customers sometimes carries a tank-container of really nasty acid (Class 8 ) to Poland.
Interesting types of cargo. Because I always run tanks of fuel or Hydrogen around, I forget about all the other packaged ADR goods that are on the road.
Tramping around Europe with specialist fuel would be my perfect job .

It absolutely exists. I delivered a small consignment of ADR cleaning products to a local company recently. We had loaded this consignment in the Ruhr.
On previous trips, I’ve loaded a full load of various Organic Peroxides near Munich, for delivery in Teeside. Very dodgy stuff, there was only one ferry operator willing to take these loads.
Another frequent customer near Passau was loading a full load of ADR, which was then partially stripped and reloaded with groupage for the UK.
Another frequent customer was loading full loads of ADR glue in IBC’s, from Switzerland to the North East.
We frequently export ADR to Europe. I had a load containing ADR a couple of weeks ago. We have at least one export load of ADR most weeks.

Very late replying to this but with Virginia did ADR all over Europe, Coke Cola ingredients from the West of Ireland. Furthest was Budapest.
