Euro Truckstops, Definitive Guide

Go to the 1st lay-by on the left as you climb up out of dover on the A20. Look at the top of the grass bank when you’ve stopped. HORRENDOUS!

One of the best i have been in is Brescia truckstop in Italy, hotel with driver discount, with air con,you can hire a car on a weekend off and see the lakes and be a tourist.
There is a gym, bars and resturants.

GBPub:
orys whilst most MSA’s in the UK are poor in comparison to many in Europe, they at least have toilet and showers.

Yeah, as in Europe showers are something unknown… :unamused:

However my point was that I don’t see the need to include industrial estates anywhere not just in the UK, so that you have the above facilities on hand.

Thats why this thread is, we can discuss our idea of what can be included in his project.

You commented on another thread about smelly drivers, well I am sorry but you need to take off your rose tinted glasses as the smelly ones are invariably the EE drivers and the reason is not a lack of facilities but the lack on their part to have a shower.

I lived in Poland 25 years, and I never noticed that people there have any worse hygiene than here in UK. I speak with many Eastern European drivers (not just pass then while going to my English friends) and I never noticed that they are more smelly than their British, Spanish or whatever counterparts. So maybe you would take of your anti-eastern european glasses and see, that they are just normal people like yourself?

For your iformation: I never saw in Poland signs asking people who leaving the toilet to wash their hands… You dont’ need signs for such obvious things in Poland. Since this signs are so popular in Britain, I guess people need some prompt to do that…

As for litter, wherever there is EE drivers parked up then you will find litter and excrement, most of them (not all) are filthy disgusting pigs with no regard for anyone. Yes you will find other nationalities who litter, but nowhere near as many percentage wise as the EE.

This is complete ■■■■■■■■. Its UK that its filled with litter and excrement. Its one of the dirtiest country I’ve been to (and I’ve been to few). I never heard about things like trucker’s juice before I came here, and Eastern European parkings and laybys are much cleaner than British. So I would guess that if the Eastern European drivers were responsible for this, the country that have more of them would be dirtiest. Unfortunately, its just the countries that have more Britons are dirtiest. So look at yourself and stop blaming Eastern Europeans for your own faults. It has to be a reason why Britain is full of signs “do not litter”. “littering 50 pounds fine” etc etc etc.

For your information: we are also not responsible for that its raining in Britiain all the time

you seem so proud of your country. Why not go there for say…Another 25 years?

Beacuse I am not a Brit, and I don’t claim that everything possible is the best in Poland as Britons like to think about their country. I am simply a realist, fact matters for me, not feelings. Therefore, because these things that are important for me are better here, I will stay here for a while longer.

As for being proud: idea of being proud of being of some nationality is stupid for me: i can be proud if I achieved something, being born in Poland (or in Britain for that matter) is not an achievement as I had no influence on it…

But every post you reply to, makes Poland seem so wonderful. Why stay here if it’s so crap then? I’ll give you a lift to the ferry if you like.

I am writing about the facts - most of the cases are when yous tell some ■■■■■■■■ about it and I had to put the things straight.

So far I haven’t met on trucknet anyone who would praising Poland beyond the reality and I had to put the things straight that way…

So for me its not about Poland being wonderful, its about Poland being fast changing, normal European country as in contradiction to a third world country where people do not wash, work for a bowl of cabbage for months in the row, do their driving licenses on donkey and carts etc, as often portraited by this forum members…

But if I give you a facts about this country and it seems wonderful for you maybe there is something wrong with your country? Fancy a lift to Poland? I will be going there in November propably… Drew128 is already there and he loves it!

I have been to Drew128’ house. Met his lovely wife and family, had great ice cream and cake at a fantastic restaurant. My issue is not with Poland. I like the place. But I don’t slag Poland or the people. I never have. But I won’t take criticism off someone who is only in the UK to make money. Simple!

Ah, good, so you can take criticism off me, as I am not here to make money

Being serious though: Why I am not allowed to have my opinion? I spent nearly half of my adult life in this country… Certainly I made some observation, and spending other half of my adult life in different country I could make some interesting comparision?

I can vote in local elections, I was just called to serve jury service in court, but I can’t express my opinion on internet forum?

Isn’t it interesting for you what people like me think about your country? I love to listen to drew128 stories about how he see Poland, I find it fascinating and he observes some things that I would never notice!

So it’s our wonderful attitude to Foreigners that lured you here? Fair enough!

bigvern1:
So it’s our wonderful attitude to Foreigners that lured you here? Fair enough!

No, its not. Actually it is one of the annoying thins here - your attitude to foreigners and complete lack of interest in other countries amongst vast majority of the society here (next one is how dirty is your country, this also annoys me a lot). And I am a bit fed up with weather, but I can blame you for that :grimacing:

But you have great things, Scotland is one of the most beautiful countries in the world, the high school system is brilliant, I also had my private reasons to come here… The bottom line is that there is more pluses than minuses of me being here for me.

Not “My” attitude to Foreigners.

Not “My” attitude to Foreigners.

I am sorry, this is third annoying thing: lack of distinguisment between singular you and plural you  Sometimes I use “yous”, this time I forgot.

I did not meant you personally, it was meant as a general observation of the nation

What about a swimming pool tobes.

Bigvern & Orys. Stop moaning at each other & lets get this thread back on topic for all our benefits…

I agree with you Geoffo.
A perfectly good subject ruined by petty senseless ranting on both sides.
Give the rest of us a break and take it elsewhere.

 If you’d bothered to notice…It finished yesterday! (Boss) Yes the thread is a great idea. I would like to know where to find good spots in Europe. Ones I don’t know of already anyway.

JD,There may be a pool in Brescia,i used to swim in Aosta, parking no problem,by the sports centre.

Thank god for that, I was just about to start a new thread !!

No more developments but I’m working hard on the site when I get the chance. Left Milan 8.30 friday evening, got nabbed by the national police on the A25 4 K’s from dunkerque sunday morning for driving through the ban, only made it to J13 Belgian border parking sat night, thought I would be safe to get to the corridor, Wasn’t !!, tipped on top of a mountian in Kerry, Ireland on monday lunchtime. Not a lot of time for the site this weekend !!!.

By the way Frence police at St Omar péage every Sunday now, so watch out if your coming up that way with the wrong sort of load.

Its amazing of all the things I think of when reviewing other similar sites.
By the looks of the coding development to make this site “great”, its going to take a lot longer than anticipated. I’m going to call in some paid help to try to get things fast tracked.

For now anybody who has places they would like to add to the site please pm me the details and I will add them. It will make the site look a lot better at time of launch if there is some good content.

Loosing the will to live here,
Couldn’t find a suitable database of Euro countries and cities so I have to compile it manually :frowning:
This may take some time !
