Is there much of a difference between 17.5t driving in EU and artic driving?
I am doing HGV 1 training now.
I want to go for curtainsiders. No white goods unless on a pallet. No removals. Are there any cushy warehouse to far off warehouse jobs going - as as I get older I am getting more lazier and just want to drive and eat and have a good time - like changing a super single, in EU at 02:00 in the rain off the axle nearest the traffic between Raggio Calabria and Naples - an easy life:)
Any ex-EUROPEAN drivers on here.
Do most people ask for running money? So as we can eat?
Any tips from the big boys and girls from the world of HGV 1 would be much appreciated.
If you’ve just done your Class 1 then you’re unlikely to get any domestic, let alone European, driving work any time soon unless your current employer will let you move up - there’s much less of it as foreign drivers take British freight as return loads, and that means they deal with the Calais stowaway problem rather than us.

Hi.
Yes, artics bend just behind the cab, wagon and drags bend in the middle btw. They both carry a heavier load than a 17.5 tonner.

Good luck with yer training n test.
White goods used to be loaded by clamp truck straight onto the floor and unloaded the same way. If you wanna be a warehouse skiver, forget paying all that money for your HGV1 training, it won’t help you very much. Changing a super single is done by tyre fitters these days. It is an easy life

Yes there are, and quite a few drivers still doing European work as well. I got back from Switzerland this afternoon.
No running money. Company expenses are generally paid for by company card. My boss pays us our overnight money in cash at the start of each trip, so we’ve got eating money.
