Euro Cargo passenger interior door release lever

I need to remove the passenger door panel to fix the electric window.
I cannot work out how to remove the door opening lever to allow the panel to be removed.

Our horsebox is an older model.
The release lever is behind the pull bar

This shows it in place and once removed but not how to remove it.

You’ve got the handle unscrewed right?

I’ve literally done dozens of them. because the plastic bit that goes into the bottom of the glass is so flimsy when the facelifted model came with electric windows as standard if a driver knocks the mirror head in with the window part open it breaks it. Eventually they were just wedged up with wood when it became apparent it was becoming a regular parts outlay.

I thought it just pulled straight off the splines but I honestly can’t remember maybe you have to compress the inner piece a bit with some pliers or something to pull the lever off but I can’t recall that being the case.

It vibrates everything comes off.

Thanks for all your help.
I have tried compressing the splines but to no effect.
I will have a go with bigger grips after soaking in WD40 in the hope that it is seized on with muck.
The driver side went some time ago and it cost my daughter £120 to get it fixed.
I thought that I could fix it for £5 which is what I got the plastic bit for on eBay.
