Euro 6

We had one of the new Renault t series on demo with the 460 engine, went like a dream and was getting 11.5+ every trip at anywhere 35t upwards.

We’ve been told our E6 CFs can’t have their limiters upped from 53 due to emissions? Anyone heard similar? I had a go in one of them last week and didn’t feel that different to my E5, except that the gearchange is smoother and it uses more adblue.

I think Scania trucks had a similar system called the ‘smoke button’ or something…but I can’t remember the details other than the driver had to physically engage it and it would release itself once the engine was firing properly. It stopped white smoke on start up. I many well have this bit wrong, and please correct me if you know better.

Yeah they have on the EGR Euro 5 stuff at least. Part closes the exhaust brake to get rid of said white smoke and warm engine up quicker etc etc.

Anyway, had the “experience” of driving a new R450 streamline recently;

  • Seems to drink adblue. Used not far off half a tank in one day. The Euro 5 (with adblue) don’t use as much ISTR.
  • When you get out of the cab after about 5-10 mins driving, you get this smell like something is burning around the back of the cab and there’s a lot (more than usual) of heat coming out of the back. (As an afterthought, I wonder how our close coupled fridge units will like that? Drawing in hotter than usual air■■?)

looks like i,ll be staying at euro 3 a bit longer, all this new fangled engineering seems very complicated , cant beat a bit of black smoke when you put your foot down :smiley:

Always makes me laugh when you get a nice brand spanking unit which only emits watercress juice pulling a knackered old fridge throwing black or blue smoke everywhere

too true, a mate of mine runs 5 new 620 V8 Scania,s and those twin stacks dont quite seem right with puffs of steam coming out of them :laughing:

Total chuffing waste of time, energy, money & factory capacity. It ain’t even that much cleaner than euro 5, I’ve seen the stats. Should’ve stopped at euro 5 till we’re humming on lecky.

Euro 6 = total BS.

And it uses LOTS MORE FUEL

Does it Nick■■? :sunglasses:

You’re so POSH!

One tries dear boy
