hi,just had a Volvo fm11 8 weeks old of the road for nearly a week adblue pump failed, took 6 days for a new 1 to arrive very disappointing .
Anyone have a link to the actual legislation on Euro 6 for trucks ■■
I have heard that if an emissions fault occurs that after a while the truck limits itself to 20 kmh until the fault is fixed ?

They derate in stages ,example when fault occurs you may get a 20% derate ,then after a period of time it will go to 50%,then 70%…The figures I have de up as I can’t remember the actual figures…
You can not just clear the error and expect to go through the derate process to get home .As soon as the fault reoccurs the vehicle will go straight to the percentage of derate it was at when the error was cleared,so if it was at 70% it will go straight to 70%…If you wish i’ll try and remember to grab my course notes with the exact figures
If you could, that would be appreciated
Thanks
Here we go DAFMAD it’s a bit long winded
Some fault codes may result in an engine torque reduction and o vehicle speed limitation
There is a timer in the ECU
THE DERATE level is divided in to 2 levels
1.10 hours after a derate fault is set a27% torque kicks in
2, 20 hours after a derate fault is set you get a speed limit of 20km/h a whole 12.4 mph
Now the counter in the ECU starts counting as soon as a fault becomes active, and the counter can not be reset by the laptop.Though you may clear he fault with the laptop ,the counter will continue counting till it has seen the fault as fixed for 36 hours, and only then will the counter return to 0,If after 36 hour it has seen the fault is not repaired ,it will go to the derate that the vehicle was previously at …So if it was at the speed derate of 20km/h ,that is where it will return to
Down side for workshops is …they can’t really keep the vehicle for 36 hours just t make sure a fault is 100% repaired
I forgot another folder which I will try and remember tomorrow
Thank you norb
I appreciate you making the effort to find out
I am surprised this info is easily available
Seems, workshops don’t really want us to know this

To be honest it is all new and the majority of workshops won’t even know about it …Generally it is stuff you learn on courses ,and im a bit of a saddo ,and try to find out as much as I can,so I don’t look a total idiot in front of customers
…Also I am guaranteed to get them when they come in with faults anyway …Forgot my notes for the other info ,so next week im afraid

I get the impression you are dead right, to anything euro 6
You’re deffo no saddo my friend, it is unusual to find anyone who does actually know what they talk about
Thats fine norb, thanks for taking the time and trouble
Hi again DAFMAD
There isn’t much more in my notes ,just things like for Euro5 there where approx. 400 fault codes ,but for Euro6 you are looking at approx 1000…
Faults are now classed A,B,C based on emissions effect
C you have a fault but you are still within emissions limit
B =B2 Moderate impact on emissions …B1 severe impact
A 3.5 times emissions limits
The MIL light which is now an engine symbol now acts as a OBD monitor ,as it’s a bit of a link code…EXAMPLE after it does it’s own check ,if it flashes for 1 sec every 5 sec (ign on only) then no faults ,If it flashes in a different frequency then depending on the timing between flashes ,will determine if it is a class A, B,C fault…
Or as I like to say a bleeding nightmare
Thanks for taking the troubke norb
Just buy euro 3. Job done.

Pay to enter Low Emission Zone. Money gone.
